It was a great pleasure to be rejoined on the podcast by activist and member of Jews for Palestine, Ireland, Jacob Woolf, who has schooled us on how to listen out for the quiet hum of Antisemitism ("the imperfect definition that we're stuck with) before.
Jacob tells us about Ireland's not-very-good history in its dealings with the Jewish people, but he also explains the importance of rejecting the narrative that standing with Palestine and or against war crimes is the same as those ugly episodes.

Asad Abusharkh has been a legend in the anti-apartheid movement for decades. Asad, a child of the Nakba, has dedicated his life to fight for not just Palestinian freedom, but the freedom of all people. So it was very upsetting to read in a Facebook post that his family home was destroyed in Rafah by the Israeli airstrikes. An emotional, angry, but unbelievably resilient Asad joined me to discuss this "war" on his people and how the world needs to wake up to what is unfolding on our phone screens.

Note: Hours after this podcast the Israeli army bombed and destroyed Muhammad's family home. He's not a terrorist. This is collective punishment.
It was a great pleasure to be joined on the podcast by Gazan writer, analyst and researcher, Muhammad Shehada for a barnstorming podcast on the events right now in Gaza, the history of the conflict, the geopolitics of the "war" and the best explanation you'll hear of the factions, groups and civil society movements in Palestine. I've done well over 1,500 podcasts and this is instantly one of my favourite conversations ever. I can't recommend it enough.

Journalist, Mahmoud Mushtaha, rejoined us from Al-Shifa Hospital to tell us about the latest inside the hospital. He explains how Doctors are coping under the most awful of circumstance and how some decisions need to be made given the lack of resources. He talks also of the loss of his friend, Yousef and how it made him want to quit his work entirely. Mahmoud, in a moment of personal grief, tells us that "Gaza is where dreams go to die" and it is so hard to hear. While there is so much bad right now in the world, people like Mahmoud need our help. Please don't stop talking about Gaza.

Note: Shortly after this recording Loay discovered that his cousin, Ashraf El-Basyouni, was killed by an Israeli airstrike. May he Rest in Peace.
Our friend, NASA Engineer and Palestinian, Loay Elbasyouni, rejoined us late last night to talk about the ongoing plight of his parents who are trapped in Gaza, the lies and half-truths that are reported in the media and how only people not from Gaza were surprised at the official Israeli Govt plan to carry out an ethnic cleansing of his homeland.
Then in the last 5-6 minutes we talk about the silence of Irish celebrities and the fear of losing corporate Ireland if you call out war crimes. I suppose we'll be cancelled. Again.
Special thanks to our members for the Gaza appeal. You've been amazing.

We received news of another massacre in the Jabalia refugee camp from an Israeli airstrike from Zak and quickly placed a call so as to bring you a quick update on the deteriorating humanitarian crisis and the chaos that is unfolding in Gaza. Zak makes an appeal to the Irish government to speak up and call on 'Irish' Joe Biden to call for a ceasefire and end the unfolding plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza of the Palestinian people.

Note: The podcast opens with a voice note sent by a clearly distressed Zak in Gaza.
It was a pleasure to be rejoined by the best reporter on immigration in Ireland, the Dublin Inquirer's Shamim Malekmian, to discuss the case of Abdullah Musleh, who finds himself trapped in Gaza because of the inefficiencies in the Irish immigration service. We also discuss the latest from Gaza, the generosity of our tortoise shack members and the need to be careful of some new Palestinian allies who are really just opportunistic Anti-Semites.

CW: This podcast contains subjects that some listeners might find distressing.
Palestinan-Irish man, Zak, lived in Dublin for 17 years. He's in Gaza City now with his family and describes in the most powerful and heartbreaking way what a struggle it is right now in Gaza and how he feels (correctly) betrayed by the international community and Western Leaders. He talks about the impact this is having on him and his children and the trauma of surviving, but not actually living anymore. Please listen and share.
