On today's PerformHappy podcast episode, I'm thrilled to have Olympian Aagje Vanwalleghem join us. Not only is she an amazing athlete, but she's also a dedicated gymnastics mom and a passionate advocate for positive change in the sport of gymnastics. Our conversation left me feeling hopeful about the future of gymnastics, and I'm excited to share her insights with you.
Aagje's journey is truly inspiring. She has played a critical role in putting Belgian gymnastics on the map, winning multiple World Cup medals, medaling at European Championships, and even reaching the finals at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Now, as an author and resilience coach, she continues to make a significant impact by promoting resilience and joy in high-pressure youth sports.
In this episode, Aagje shares valuable tips on resilience, emphasizes the importance of finding joy in high-pressure youth sports, and offers advice on how to be a supportive sport parent. Her mission, much like mine, is to ensure that kids can love their sport and stay safe while doing it.
I hope you enjoy this insightful conversation and feel as inspired as I did. Let's continue to support positive changes in gymnastics and protect the young athletes who are the future of this beautiful sport.
In this episode, Coach Rebecca and Aagje Vanwalleghem talk about:
Gymnastics Setbacks, Resilience, and Mental Strength with an Olympian.
Abuse, Coach Responsibilities, and the Path to Well-Being.
5 Tips for Gymnasts Who Feel Like They Are Falling Behind.
How to Build Resilience.
