Markets are lower, China talks, is there forced liquidation in the corn market. Looking Aug 12th report. Could there be a reprieve come August 1st. Not a lot of excitement in the NASS report. Nervous in conversation on crop development. Filling the gap in December corn, will rain be factored in…crop progress tour. Nice recovery in the lean hog index.

Higher grains on a Monday. A lot of prep leading into the 12th. The trade is focused-two weeks from today! Some good news out of China talks would help but otherwise consolidation mode. Not been a good year with weather. Some areas could now use some rain. Excitement for today’s crop progress report. Livestock has been a quiet trade & not going very far. Cash cattle had some struggles this week,

Markets are starting to make some sense. Reaction to Monday crop progress report. Ethanol plants & livestock will be competing for grain into October. Trade aid for producers at a minimum of $15/acre. Wrapping up winter wheat tour & starting spring wheat tours. Outlook for the cattle market.

Cattle market had a better then expected week on the meat last week. Demand was good, movement was better. Cattle on Feed Report. Packers big margins. Trade helped by what goes on in the south. Such a complete absence of negotiated cattle on the south. How does that effect in the north? August cattle? Short term some excitement, long term has some struggles. Expansion faze over? Is there follow through buying support for the hogs? China & purchases. Lower grains with a big drop in the soybeans. Long term friendly on the grain market, weather was “perfect” for those who set out to wanting heat or rain.

Higher grain numbers to finish out a Friday. Market drove up today was there anything positive coming out of Asia & China. A lot of pressure for the week because of weather. Where is the market, where is it going into the August 12 crop report? What do we do with the crop in the field hold or sell and thoughts on world demand? Higher Chinese prices looking at the hogs large amounts of hogs.- cattle futures running to big of a discount. Beef market has been soft.

Weather has been top of mind both from a grain & livestock perspective. Even though lower, a decent day for the soybeans. Exports were considered a disappointment. Some reports out there getting attention including ProFarmer saying prevent plant 12 ½ million acres. Numbers expected to go higher as applications arrive.
