  • 215: One big thing your non-diet work might be missing

If you're craving a close, consistent community of fellow non-diet providers, but don't know where to go to start building that squad, this is the episode for you. Meet: The Mastermind Group.

Facebook groups, Instagram, and big conferences aren't it. A small, tight-knit group of fellow providers who are IN it—business development, anti-diet work, etc.—aka a Mastermind, could be exactly what you need.

If you are ready to join my Mastermind and Supervision group package, CLICK HERE. Or email me: RDRealTalk at Gmail dot com.

This episode is a conversation between Kim Hoban RD and me, your host, Heather Caplan RD, about our 3-year experience in a small Mastermind group together. We talk about how that group was so formative to our businesses and our work, and how we made it happen!

    • Why did I (Heather) want to create the Mastermind space
    • Why did Kim decide to join
    • What happened during our meetings
    • Why is it helpful to be in these conversations together, not just seeing the Highlight Reel
    • How do we define a Mastermind group experience
    • Why it's helpful to be in community with a variety of experiences and perspectives
    • What big projects we each did *because* of our Mastermind group experiences

Kim is now part of the Weight Inclusive Nutrition and Dietetics (WIND) team. So, the ripple effects of the Mastermind group keep flowing!

  • 212: How Weight-Inclusive Enneagram 7s Run a Business with Hannah Turnbull and Morgan Sinclair

Hannah Turnbull and Morgan Sinclair, hosts of the podcast Weight Inclusive Innovators, join this episode to talk shop about being weight-inclusive Enneagram 7s running a business! Hannah and Morgan have very different businesses, but our brains work in similar ways. (I'm an Enneagram, too! So, I relate.)

Being weight-inclusive Enneagram 7s running a business means we have a constant loop of business ideas, get very enthusiastic about starting a project and...sometimes have a hard time following through, sticking to it, and focusing on just a few offers! We talk about how, as weight-inclusive Enneagram 7s, we can easily come up with new business ideas, but can not as easily stay the path.

  • 210: What Happened in the HAES® Spaces—a conversation with Lindley Ashline and Shelby Gordon

A LOT has happened in the Health at Every Size® and weight-inclusive communities since Marquisele (Mikey) Mercedes published an essay outlining oppressive and harmful interactions with Lindo Bacon on her Patreon. Lindley Ashline shared her own experiences, as did the ASDAH leadership team. You'll find links below to get started, if you missed these essays and posts!

Lindley Ashline and Shelby Gordon both joined me on this episode to review what's been happening, and where we go from here. We'll continue to discuss this through community prompts (provided by Lindley) at the June WIND Community Hangout (a free event!).

This episode is sponsored by the WIND Summer Series, where Shelby Gordon is a featured speaker on anti-oppression and white supremacy in nutrition and dietetics. Register here to join us: https://weightinclusivenutrition.teachable.com/p/wind-summer-series-2022

  • 209: Why this is the last season of RDRT
I'll lead with the lead: this is the final season of RD Real Talk podcast...I'm pretty sure! (Said like a true Enneagram 7.)

This episode features a sneak peak at the WIND Summer Series. Check it out here: Weightinclusivenutrition.teachable.com!

There are (at least) ten SOLID episodes of this show left, and I'm so excited (and feeling lucky) to be recording them over the next two months. But after that, we take a break! Indefinitely.

So, don't go anywhere too soon. In this episode, I share some of the business insights and numbers from the show over the past 5 years! I share why I've loved doing this podcast, and why I'm pausing it for now, and maybe for always. And I'm sharing a little reminder for whoever needs it: success doesn't have to mean a million downloads, or a show that produces prolificly for infinity.

If you want to start your own anti-diet, weight-inclusive show, I'm here for it! Do it.

And per usual, reach out anytime to say hi, tell me about your work, ask questions, or whatever you feel compelled to send in a (respectful) email. RDRealTalk at gmail dot com.

You'll find me and my work on the internet, @heatherdcRD on IG, and heathercaplan.com. And if you want more RD Real Talk vibes in the form of community and continuing education, come join us at WIND.
