Inspired by Hannah Turnbull and Morgan Sinclair, today, I take some time to share my real talk, non-diet, business recap of quarter one with you. A lot has happened in the Anti-Diet and Weight Inclusive Dietetics space over the last three months, and in addition to having three kids, I tend to put a lot on my ~self-made~ work plate. I took this episode to debrief and review all the things from Q1. Tune in as I talk shop about my intentions, revenue goals and business investments and my plans for the next few months!

David Orozco RD joins this episode to talk about his experiences as a weight-inclusive, non-diet, Latinx dietitian. We talk about about how he has experienced the wrath of diet culture as it tries to demonize foods that remind him of his Columbian upbringing, and how the Intuitive Eating space is a place where he has found comfort in providing sound advice for himself AND his clients to keep their traditions alive in their cooking. We don’t talk about Bruno, but we ARE going to talk about misguided diet culture advocates claiming that cultural foods like, arepas, empanadas, and tostones are bad. We also chat about his journey through transitioning his practice from wellness to intuitive eating, his experience with being a male in a female dominated profession, his NEW BOOK, and MORE!

WTAF RDs Jenna Werner and Sammy Previte joined this episode to have a casual, fun, and no-BS conversation about needing a break from even the non-diet things, big life changes, and if what we're seeing from diet culture is the $72 Billion industry's last breath. (We can ONLY HOPE!)

This episode dives into all of the above, while trying to answer the big question: Is it possible to food track and eat intuitively??
This episode covers:
Sumner Brooks, MPH RDN, co-author of the new book, How to Raise an Intuitive Eater, joins the show for a conversation about why this book needed to exist, even though we are born as intuitive eaters.
This episode covers how strongly diet culture has impacted the way parents feed and nourish their kids, what role social media plays in misinformation around IE for kids, and the 3 keys to intuitive eating for kids, which Sumner and Amee outline in their book!

Well, I was ready to tell you why food tracking apps are probably not the "healthy eating" solution you were looking for. But first, I turned to YOU, my community on Instagram @heatherdcRD, and paused to ask you some questions.
I could tell I was coming in hot with this topic, and it felt like I needed to stop and actually check in with YOU. And what you shared with me helped me shift the tone of this episode!

We're human; we want to know if we're doing something right or wrong! Even when we're not dieting, we want to know, are we doing this intuitive eating thing the "right" way? A listener asked what milestones to look for, how to know if they were being "successful" with intuitive eating. So, this episode explores what that looks like, why that question is so common, and some "success" traps to avoid from diet culture!
You'll also here the answer to two Intuitive Eating questions:
- What do I do if I'm not feeling hungry (because of emotional overwhelm and/or stress), but I know that I need to eat?
- And, what if I eat intuitively but never eat a vegetable?! I just don't like them!
