  • Longhorn Republic: October 18, 2022 - Iowa State Recap
The Texas Longhorns' revenge tour continued Saturday, avenging one of the more embarrassing losses from a year ago, a drubbing on the road at the hands of the Iowa State Cyclones.
It wasn't the best game from the Texas offense, with quarterback Quinn Ewers struggling to find open receivers but still managing to toss three touchdowns in the win. His efforts were buoyed by the efforts Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, who literally and figuratively carried the team to a victory on the final drive.
For the first time in four years, Texas managed to shut down the Iowa State passing attack, putting the game on the right arm of quarterback Hunter Dekkers, who played well in the loss. Iowa State nearly had the go-ahead touchdown, but Xavier Hutchinson could not come down with the pass.
So what does this mean for Texas moving forward? Did they manage to turn the corner or was this just another near miss against an inferior opponent?

  • Longhorn Republic: October 13, 2022 - Iowa State Preview
The Texas Longhorns have said they're on a revenge tour and the next on the list is the Iowa State Cyclones.
Texas and Iowa State are teams moving in opposite directions, with Texas winning its last two games, including a big win in the Red River Showdown, while Iowa State hopes to snap a long losing streak while extending its run against Texas. The Cyclones are without much of what made their offense special in recent memory, breaking in new weapons on offense. However, the architect of their suffocating defense, DC Jon Heacock, still manages their pioneering alignment.

  • Longhorn Republic: October 11, 2022 - Texas Dismantles Oklahoma
The Texas Longhorns went into the Cotton Bowl with something to prove and came away with the most lopsided victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the history of the matchup.
Texas put together its most complete performance of the year, playing suffocating, dominating defense and pairing it with an offensive game plan that put them ahead early and never looked back. Is this indicative of what we can expect from Texas every week moving forward? What do we want to see improved from a dominating performance so Texas can continue to control its own fate in conference play?
We also dive in on the No. 1 volleyball team's march through conference play, the swimming team's openers, and the soccer team's dominance in the Sunflower state, before closing the show out with our Bang the Drum segment.

  • Longhorn Republic: October 6, 2022 - OU Preview
It's time for the big rivalry matchup, as the Texas Longhorns head to the Cotton Bowl to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in the annual Red River Showdown.
After a solid open to the season, Texas stumbled against the Texas Tech Red Raiders and seemingly squandered any goodwill they generated by looking good in the first three weeks of the season. Now, after getting back in the win column convincingly against the West Virginia Mountaineers, Texas can not only continue its bid at legitimacy, they can all but officially eliminate the Oklahoma Sooners from conference title contention in the first year under Brent Venables.
Oklahoma started Big 12 play with two lopsided losses at the hands of the Kansas State Wildcats and the TCU Horned Frogs, who may be two of the best teams in the league when it's all said and done. After fans spent an offseason listing reasons why they were better off with Venables instead of Lincoln Riley, it's time for Venables to get the team moving in the right direction.

Cameron asks if Texas is the more talented team for the first time in more than a decade (21:30) and wonders if Sark’s record away from Austin is a cause for concern (25:00).
The podcast concludes with predictions (28:30), Wescott’s favorite Red River Showdown memory, and his go-to at the Texas State Fair.

  • Longhorn Republic: October 1, 2022 - West Virginia Instant Reaction
The Texas Longhorns were in need of a solid win and managed to control the game wire-to-wire, coming away with a 38-20 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The Longhorns jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first half, thanks in large part to three big passing plays, two from quarterback Hudson Card and one from wide receiver Xavier Worthy. However, Texas is no stranger to first-half leads turning into second-half nightmares, but the Longhorns managed to come out and score the only points of the third quarter, taking a four-score lead into the fourth quarter.
Worthy seemingly had the breakout game he was waiting for, adding two receiving touchdowns to his passing score, while tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders did his part with 78 yards and two touchdowns of his own.
Now, Texas turns its attention to the Red River Rivalry and a floundering Oklahoma Sooner squad coming off of back-to-back losses. Can Texas get some revenge, keep itself in the conference race, and put a nail in the Sooners’ coffin?
