An unmedicalised, instinctive, intuitive, wild pregnancy seems so far removed from our current interventional, highly pathologized, industrial birth paradigm; that most women don't even know that being your own prenatal care provider is an option.

But as you will hear, during my consciousness expanding discussion with Natalie Alaska, it can be, for the majority of women. And is often more connected, more magical, and far more simple than we are led to believe .

Natalie discusses how she used her intuition to guide her during pregnancy, and in the lead up to the freebirth of her second son; the ways in which she navigated the external opinion of others around her choice; how she worked through her 'what if' fears; her beautiful pregnancy rituals and also shares with us one of the BEST pregnancy affirmations I've ever heard.

These women are united in birth trauma, yet we've been serving them at different stages of their journeys. You've heard the terms Patriarchy and Matriarchy - but do you truly know what it means? With permission from Jane Hardwicke Collings, I have read 'HERSTORY - WOMANIFESTO' for you to listen to. I believe when you hear this, it will awaken within you, what you may have thought you'd lost.

I've read this piece more times that I can remember, but knowing that other women will hear this for the first time, made this experience different. I cried in parts, stumbled upon words, pronounced places and deities incorrectly and then struggled to keep reading when my eyes filled with tears. But I kept going, because it's the story medicine that matters. And I believe Jane's 'Herstory' is something every woman should know.

In Part 2 of Sammy's Freebirth Story, she shares the details of her 24+ hour labour and birth of her daughter Aspen. Sammy shares the intimates of her inner thoughts and dialogue, which we conclude were her intuitive voice guiding her from start to finish, and her assertiveness, requirements and demands of those supporting her - as she stood in her power as the birthing woman, in her mother and baby centered freebirth.

After seeing Lani's Instagram post on prenatal GBS testing, translated by her as 'Giant Bull Shit' - it was love at first sight! In this episode we discuss radical responsibility, independent birthwork, what autonomous birth looks like, the spirituality of miscarriage, her independent and rebellious style of coaching and the birth of her son. Lani answers my favourite question around why we're still using non-evidence based practices (that have never improved outcomes) in our birthing system - and why she believes the system is not broken at all!

After Sammy's questions about the Wollongong MGP (Midwifery Group Practice) Program's guidelines were met with frustration, condescension and misinformation from her assigned Midwife - she and her partner Talia knew birthing away from the system would be the best choice for their child. Sammy shares how she arrived at the decision to freebirth, and the journey of her semi-wild pregnancy in the lead up to her baby Aspen's birth in Part 1.
