If you’re a birth or postpartum doula (or even both), you are doing special work when it comes to helping families. I absolutely love doulas! I even trained as a birth doula, but the work I do in the postpartum space as a craniosacral therapist is what resonates with me now.
In today’s episode, I share more about how doulas can support parents in the postpartum space, as well as how I help parents and their babies as a craniosacral therapist. Parents need to know they’re doing a great job taking care of their baby. They also need to know the concerns they have about their baby is something to check into, and shouldn’t be brushed off. Symptoms are the body’s way of showing us that something isn’t quite right. Babies can exhibit a variety of symptoms after being born, such as colic, reflux, sleep disturbances, and feeding issues.
While I don’t believe that craniosacral therapy is the ‘be all and end all’ for all babies, I DO believe that it can truly help many babies presenting with specific symptoms. I urge parents to trust their gut and press on when they are concerned - don’t just stand for ‘wait and see’ from your provider. If you’re a birth and/or postpartum doula and you feel the same way, I encourage you to reach out to a craniosacral therapist, or become one yourself!
