Successful narcissists are so convincing that even their spouses believe that they are authentic an capable of caring about them and loving them, especially in the beginning. The narcissists always does what it take to win, regardless of the hurt feelings that it causes his spouse and children. The narcissist feels deeply self entitled and must keep his ego fully inflated at all times. He seeks praise, adulation and even worship. This he gets if the narcissist is at a high level and sought after by others as a very important person of extraordinary success.

Some spouses stay with the narcissistic partner and believe that they can be changed. This is not possible since this kind of personality is very fixed and does not change.

At some point the partner or spouse of the narcissist decides that he or she can no longer be the recipient of narcissistic rage and continue abuse.

Making the decision to divorce the narcissist can be difficult. I hear from individuals who have done this successfully although it is complex and takes perseverance. 

You are now free to pursue all of fruits and benefits of your true self together with your many creative gifts. You deserve deep inner peace and the great freedom of your precious individuality.
