If you've ever felt overwhelmed by clutter or stuck in your efforts to get organized, Beverly "Pete" Thornton's story will speak directly to your heart.
As a member of the Organized Life Academy, Pete shares the real-life challenges she faced and the major wins along the way. From transforming a chaotic multipurpose room into a welcoming space for guests to tackling her office supply obsession (can you relate?), Pete opens up about the emotional process of letting go—especially regarding her grandmother’s and great aunt’s sentimental keepsakes.
With the support of coaching and our community, Pete didn’t just declutter her space—she transformed her mindset. She found freedom in releasing what no longer served her, and in doing so, she made room for what truly matters.
In this episode, you’ll hear how monthly planning, mindset shifts, and the power of community helped Pete create a more harmonious home and life.
She also shared her favorite things about Organized Life Academy and the live event we had in 2024.

Do you struggle to organize your home? Are you overwhelmed and unable to get started?
Today, I’m starting a series dedicated to organizing your home and personal life.
I break down the organizing process into five foundational steps: Sort, Purge, Assign Homes, Set Limits, and Maintain, collectively referred to as SPASM. These steps are applicable to physical spaces, mental workloads, projects, and even time and your calendar.
Drawing from my personal experiences, such as organizing my attic space and closet this month AND working with 100's of clients over the past 16 years as a professional organizer, I discuss how to initiate an organizing project in spaces that impact your daily life and the importance of scheduling time and involving others in the organizing process.
Additionally, I talk about the value of mindset shifts to overcome feelings of overwhelm during the organizing journey.

Are you ever mad at your past self for not doing a better job organizing your business from the beginning?
It would have been so much easier if someone had given us the resources and knowledge we needed. But... we didn't know what we didn't know.
This week, I experienced this myself when making a list of my podcast guest appearances. They were not all in one place, so I "wasted" time trying to put this list together, annoyed that I hadn't done this from the beginning.
My experience inspired this episode. I thought of the things that I wish I had organized from the very beginning, and I thought of my clients and what they wish they had organized.
Let me tell you, getting organized takes a lot more work when you've accumulated all the stuff. So, if you are new to business, take notes. And if you've been in business for a while and are wishing you had started sooner, NOW is the time. Your future self will thank you immensely.
What do you wish you had organized from the start? Please message me on Instagram and let me know what yours are that I missed.
I share 10 critical elements I wish I had organized from the beginning of my coaching business. These elements include maintaining digital files, tracking podcast guest appearances, organizing funnel links, recording assets and freebies, and more.
I've packaged my solution to all of these in Organized Coach Academy where I help all coaches get their businesses and their assets organized. I break it down into simple modules and include monthly calls so you don't stay stuck.
Tune in to discover practical tips for creating a streamlined and efficient coaching business today!
