Episode Highlights:
Finding Out What You Really Want
It's amazing how many people don't pause to think about what they really want in their life. Or they could be thinking about how they no longer want their job and it’s sucking a lot out of them. And they finally realize there’s more to life, but they’re quick to say they can’t because “I can’t” sounds easy.
Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone
Being comfortable is like a purgatory where you're in between two different places because you say you’re fine but you feel horrible. Therefore, you have to ask yourself what you want and call yourself out on your excuses. Why do you say you can’t or you won’t? Dive deeper into that. What is the resistance you’re feeling? Is it because you're going to have to make a change and it’s uncomfortable?
Trusting Your Process
If you can break down the barriers of what the fear is and have a clear plan of what you're capable of achieving, then it’s going to be okay to quit your job and you're going to be okay to do your business. But you have to want it bad enough to make these changes or shifts. Finally, follow the process to take the steps. It's going to get uncomfortable and it is going to hit resistance. But you have to be able to overcome the hurdle and ask for help. And give yourself the grace to embrace those setbacks. Realize that you're not going to achieve everything that you want all at once. Maybe it’s just the universe telling you to take a different path and use those setbacks as beautiful lessons.

What do you value most in this world? Are you currently doing the things you’re passionate about? Or do you spend most of your time on things that don’t really matter at all? In this episode, learn how you can build your own Reinvention Roadmap to help guide you along your journey to success and happiness. This is your journey. All you have to do is create that destination – what is it that you really want?
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
The Gift of Time
Imagine if you set your alarm clock just 10 minutes earlier every day. What would you do with those 10 precious minutes? Whether you decide to meditate or put your thoughts on paper, you have the opportunity to create a whole new way of living. Think of time as a gift.
The Power of Our Thoughts
Our thoughts are critical to dictating what our life could be. Our thoughts lead to our beliefs. Our beliefs dictate our actions. And our actions dictate how we live our lives. If you're looking for Reinvention, time and thoughts are two of the most simple commodities found at your fingertips under your control that you can access to create that change.
Knowing What You Value the Most
Here’s a simple exercise you can do: get a pen and paper and create two columns. Write down everything you value under the first column, and then on the second column, write down where you're actually spending most of your time. Take a hard look at that, and be really honest. Do those even align with one another?
Working on “Project You”
The discovery of ourselves can both be incredibly inciting and daunting. But in that moment where you get to think about what you want for yourself, it's also time to listen to yourself. Understand our own entitlement, create time for yourself, memorialize your values, reflect on what's important. Find your WHY. Design your roadmap, seek out your mentors, and give yourself permission to rethink it all.

Amanda Holmes spent over 10 years as a singer/songwriter and when her father was diagnosed with leukemia, she began spending a year and a half going through every possible alternative treatment they could find. She studied with monks from Japan and then met her guru from India.
All this led her to take herself on this whole other journey of healing and transitioning into her role as the CEO of Chet Holmes International, founded over 25 years ago by his father, acclaimed corporate trainer, strategic consultant, motivational expert, and lecturer, Chet Holmes.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
Healing the Body By Healing the Mind
Every disease in the body is just a disease of our minds. If we can release the disease – the anger, the fear, the frustrations, the guilt – then we can heal ourselves. People need to understand and learn how to process anger and fear and how to do it from a place of acceptance, love, and gratitude. Reciting positive words to yourself repeatedly is also very powerful as it sets you up in a place of good and healing.
About Chet Holmes International
Chet Holmes International has been teaching companies how to win their dream clients. It's the one strategy that has doubled the sales of more companies than any other.
The reason why many people fail at winning their biggest clients is 80% of sales are made on the 5th to 12th contact. And yet, only 10% of salespeople ever follow up after the 3rd contact. And so, the majority of people miss out on that pig-headed discipline and determination to make sure that you win those bigger, better, best clients.
Understanding the Buyer’s Pyramid
At the top of the pyramid, roughly around 3% of the people you talk to will be in the “buy now” category and 7% are those open to it. The next 30% will be those not thinking about it. The other 30% are those not interested, and the last 30% are those that are definitely not interested.
The buyer is not interested in you, your product, or service and you are missing out on 90% of your prospects in saying yes to being interested. The goal is to educate the entire buyer's pyramid so they move up to the top in the "buy now" category.

Our guest today was faced with an existential question of what to do next after he had the extraordinary opportunity to take the biggest brand in music and Reinvent it. He knew there was another chapter inside him that was just waiting for him to turn the page – and so he did.
Evan Greene is a partner in 3 Emerald Marketing, a data-based strategic consultancy driving innovation in the passion-fueled areas of music, sports and entertainment. He also serves as Chief Business Officer for VRM & The ARIA Network. Greene was previously CMO of the Recording Academy, where he launched and then led the marketing department for 16 years, building the GRAMMYs into one of the world’s most recognized and coveted brands.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
The moment Evan decided to move on
Leaving the safety net and comfort of getting a paycheck and benefits
The life lesson he learned from his love of adventure sports
Finding a support system as you go through your reinvention moments
The power of listening to your inner voice and following your passion
Episode Highlights:
Getting Out of Your Safety Net
Many people who have the opportunity to move on with their careers end up holding back because there is that fear of losing their sense of job security. But at the end of the day, the choice is in your hands. It takes some level of self-awareness to figure out what options and paths you need to take. It also takes courage to get rid of that safety net and rely on your experience, expertise, relationships, and success to see what you can build out of yourself.
What some people might see as a roll of the dice, think of it as a leap of faith that allows you to explore and evaluate different opportunities that otherwise never would have been in front of you. You’re opening up pathways that you least expect. It’s not a linear progression. It's almost like being in a sandbox, you can build whatever sandcastle you want and then you can build another one next to it.
It’s very important to listen to your inner voice and follow your passion because you don’t want to live the rest of your life wondering what if.
The Power of a Support System Through Your Reinvention Moments
We are the sum total of the relationships that we build, cultivate, and cherish. Get some ideas from people you trust and bounce some things off of them. Be open to critical feedback and use it as your guidepost so you can focus on where you want to go as well as understand the landscape you're stepping into.

Around 40% to 65% of Americans are looking for a new job and about 40% to 50% want to transition careers to something else. But how do you figure out your next step to make sure that what you do is aligned to what you really want to do?
In today’s episode, Marlo Lyons shares some great insights, tips and tools to help you navigate through your own reinvention. Having spent more than 20 years inspiring, motivating and empowering people to excel in their careers and businesses, Marlo made a career transition from TV news reporter for more than a decade to entertainment lawyer to HR business partner in both entertainment technology and the medical technology industries to executive and career coach.
Indeed, Marlo is a shining example of what is possible once you set your mind to something.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
Figure Out Your Values
You need to reevaluate and figure out your values in order to figure out what you want to do. And you have to be true to yourself in the process of figuring yourself out. A lot of people focus on strengths. You may be good at math and you love math, but you may never want to work in math. Also, realize that your values are not the same as your other people’s. Family to you may only mean your immediate circle (parents, kids, siblings), while family to another person may mean their inner circle plus other relatives. And so, those are two different values even though you both value family.
Figure Out Your Skills
Once you’ve identified your values, identify your skills, whether hard or soft. Hard skills are the skills that you can actually see (ex. data analysis, data insights, the physical results) while soft skills are the intangibles, yet extremely important such as emotional intelligence and communication skills.
Then find a career that matches those skills which you will then translate through the lens of the new job.
Stop Making Excuses
You have to decide what the right time is for you. But also acknowledge whether you're making excuses because there is never going to be a perfect time for anything. Ask yourself if you can do your current job for the next 10, 20 or 30 years and if the answer is no, then there is no time like the present.

There were two pivotal moments throughout Deborah’s life that have led her to a place of joy that she’s in now. First, she had set aside 10 years of experience in the agency business and decided to invest in herself by going to business school. The second life-changing moment for her was leaving her leadership role at American Express where she had worked for over 12 years, and accepting a CMO role in the space of events, hospitality, and experiential. Then the lockdown happened – but this didn’t stop her from taking on another adventure and living the life she wants.
Deborah Curtis is a seasoned marketing executive with over 20 years of experience across a variety of marketing disciplines and industries. Today, she talks about her challenges and triumphs along her reinvention journey, what that growth looks like, and why you should not even wait for some crisis to happen until you make that leap of faith.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Taking a leap of faith, leaving her leadership role and entering business school
Investing in yourself has no downsides
Choosing to have fun working hard
The ability to pause during a crisis is a gift
Episode Highlights:
Choosing to Have Fun Working Hard
We all have the ability to have fun even at work. It’s just a matter of choice. We’re all entitled to have fun even when we’re working hard and have whatever we want in our lives. It’s just a matter of figuring out how to create it.
Seeing the Gift in Every Crisis
The ability to pause is a gift because you have that moment to reflect on who you are and what you want out of your life. You get to learn, grow, and get to know yourself even better. You realize how resilient you are after all and you dare to push boundaries and challenge yourself. You just have to tap into the parts of yourself that you forgot existed.
Take on an Adventure – Now!
Many brands sometimes wait to change until a crisis comes, and a lot of individuals do the same thing. But you shouldn’t even wait for a crisis until you make any changes in your life. Take a leap of faith and don’t be scared to take on an adventure because there’s so much excitement on the other end which you may never have otherwise expected.

Aha moments are everywhere – and those moments, which are oftentimes serendipitous, lead you to the next step forward. However, many of us choose to ignore those moments. Whether it’s out of fear or we’re just too distracted to notice them, we end up taking those moments for granted. But you have to be willing to listen to your inner voice in order for the process of reinvention to begin.
For George Leon, leaving a huge company like Sony Entertainment was a pivotal moment. He soon realized that things had to unfold the way they should have to get him to the place where he’s at right now. George is currently the Founder and CEO of Cakewalk Entertainment, a company that connects global brands with entertainment franchises to create opportunities that generate mutually powerful results. With more than 25 years of experience, Leon is a one-of-a-kind specialist in global promotions and entertainment franchise development.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
Everybody goes through imposter syndrome at some point in their lives. It’s a universal suffering that we all go through. But it’s all a matter of how are you going to deal with it that really matters at the end of the day.
You got here for a reason. And so you need to believe that you’ve gotten to this place at this point in your life in order for you to get to the next place. Therefore, sometimes you have to believe in serendipity. Then allow people to help you through it.
Figure out who you are, not who you want to be. Because there is so much value in listening to yourself to know yourself better. Finally, focus on what you’re good at and surround yourself with people that matter and people who believe in you and what you're trying to do.

Life is a balancing act, but what happens when you’ve got so much on your plate? Today’s guest, Michelle Edgar, is a perfect example of how discipline and resilience can help you balance everything you do in life. And it’s all about the power of intention.
When COVID hit, Michelle took the opportunity to focus on her personal growth, getting into law school and training on the track. In fact, she lost 30 pounds after four months of running, which not only impacted her physically, but she gained more clarity. All that, on top of her passion projects Music Unites, a non-profit organization funding sustainable music education programs in underserved public schools, as well as The XX Project, a social platform that inspires and empowers women in business through resources and tools to enhance their lives and propel their business forward.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
Finding Your Tribe
Surround yourself with great people who support what you’re doing. Find your tribe of people who can help you see something even when you can’t see it yourself. There’s already too much noise in our own head that sometimes it can stop us from doing things, so you definitely don't need to hear all the other negative voices out there.
Balancing Everything in Your Life
Be very intentional with your time. Sometimes, it's not about having more time, but it’s about being smarter and more strategic with your time. Carve out your time and see what works for you. You also have to be very honest with the way you divide up your plate and be intentional about what's on it, whether it’s your personal life or professional life.
Understand what you do and how you waste time in a day. Figure out a way to work smarter and re-strategize how you approach your day and accomplish certain tasks. Be strategic with your goals and then set the timelines.
Finding Your Mentors
The biggest gift is to have somebody to push you. A mentor could be someone older or younger, regardless, just make sure to be open when you're seeking help. It also requires a strong level of commitment and discipline on your part in order for significant change to happen. So be ready for it!

After a series of course corrections and Reinventions in his life, Chris Detert is proof that if you just keep yourself open to what's possible and enjoy every aspect of it, you can definitely forge your own path to success.
Chris Detert is the Chief Communications Officer at Influential, a leading technology platform that connects brands with audiences via transparent data and machine learning. With over 15 years of experience leading top brands and agencies, Chris played an instrumental part in the launch and continued growth of the company. Since the pandemic hit, their business has doubled in size with over 150 employees and currently hiring 30 new jobs.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
The Reinvention of Influencers
Chris Detert played a huge role in growing Von Dutch, a fashion brand that grew into a multi-million dollar business at its peak. Back in the days, the early influencers were the musicians, the actors, and the Hollywood tastemakers. And Chris brought in hundreds of celebrities into their store as part of their marketing efforts.
Now with social media, we’re seeing a huge shift in marketing including the Reinvention of influencers. By using data and analytics, businesses are now able to easily reach their target audience, and even niche down to specific markets.
Not Your Average Influencer Marketing Company
Influential is the largest influencer marketing company. However, the company’s objective is much different than just typical influencer marketing. At its core, they're a data and conversion company that structures data using AI through IBM Watson and conversion technology to make actual results (ex. foot traffic into stores).

The impact of games cannot be underestimated. Especially during the pandemic, games have become a social platform, connecting people and keeping them engaged. Not only are games now creating an impact socially, it’s starting to also show tremendous importance in various industries including education, healthcare, and so on.
Today’s guest is Susanna Pollack, a cross sector leader, public speaker, and a social entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in building successful initiatives to advance ambitious public goals throughout traditional and interactive media.
Currently, she is the president of Games For Change, the largest industry facing gaming company, based in New York, dubbed by the national media as “the Sundance for video games.” The company attracts industry leaders across game design, emerging technology, media, foundations, government agencies, academia and brands. Prior to that, Susanna held various senior level positions at BBC Worldwide Americas over a 14-year period.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
- Susanna’s pivotal reinvention moment from the movie industry to gaming
- Transferring your skills from one industry to another
- Building strong relationships with brands and organizations
- The role of games in our lives today
- The Games For Change Student Challenge
Episode Highlights:
Susanna’s Career Background
Susanna started pursuing a career in theatre production, and eventually, worked at BBC for 14 years, holding various senior level positions. When her priorities changed and she felt she wasn’t learning anymore, she stumbled across an organization focused on impact through interactive engagement and storytelling.
Her story is proof that if you set the course to know what you want to create in your life and believe it's possible, then you've got a better chance of grabbing that and making it happen. Moreover, there are transferable skills and experiences that you can bring from one industry to another.
Building Strong Relationships to Bring Forth Growth
Susanna underlines the importance of building strong relationships with brands and organizations that are aligned with their specific focus for their corporate social responsibility, whether that's climate change, social justice, or education.
Now, they have non-endemic brands that are not in the games industry, but recognize the impact they have, spanning industries from telecommunications and automotive to entertainment and the games industry.
The Impact of Games on People’s Lives Today
Kids who identified as gamers prior to the pandemic were more resilient during this period because they had the skills and know how to connect with others. The education sector is also now seeing the impact of games on education. Teachers and students are struggling with online learning because hours of Zoom calls have resulted in kids feeling disengaged and exhausted by all this. And so, they've seen an accelerated interest from teachers in using games as a way to engage kids in the curriculum.
Games are now being used for relaxation and meditation and other health and awareness issues. More investments are going into devices and games being used for treatment. In fact, during the pandemic, the FDA approved the first video game that can be prescribed by doctors for treatment of ADHD.
