Rodrigo “Comprido” Medeiros grew up in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. His childhood neighborhood was filled with future legends in the sport of Jiu Jitsu but it wasn’t until Comprido was 16 that he began training seriously.

After a rough first year of competing Comprido began winning tournaments and quickly became one of the top fighters and even recorded the first, and still fastest submission ever in the Worlds Absolute Black Belt division. 

Listen as Rodrigo tells wonderful stories about growing up in that Rio neighborhood, his Jiu Jitsu journey that eventually brought him to the US, and how he became a much sought after BJJ coach for MMA fighters like Mike Russo, Demian Maia, and Brock Lesnar.

Miguel Angel Torres went from fighting in unsanctioned bouts in bars and nightclubs to become one of the greatest MMA bantamweights in history.

Under the tutelage of Grand Master Carlson Gracie Sr. who saw a champion in a young Miguel, Miguel rose through the smaller MMA organizations on his way to capturing the WEC bantamweight title. 

Along with other fighters like Urijah Faber and Mike Brown, Miguel changed the face of MMA,. They proved that the lighter weight classes were just as exciting and full of talent as the heavier divisions. 

Miguel amassed an astonishing record of 45 - 9 during an incredible MMA career  and he is now giving back to both the martial arts and local communities that made him a champion.

With humor and sincerity, listen as Miguel tells us his journey. Beginning with his childhood in a rough East Chicago Indiana neighborhood, traveling to Brazil with his mentor Carlson Gracie Senior, and changing MMA forever.

Marcio Cruz said very early on in his Jiu Jitsu journey he would be world champion and there was no one he couldn’t beat. He wasn’t being arrogant or cocky, he believed that with his raw talent, unrivaled dedication, and a die on the mat attitude, he could make all his goals reality.

Jon Thomas was surrounded by people that were doing amazing charity work and he felt he wasn’t doing enough in his life to give back.

As a kid Gianni Grippo had tremendous support from his parents. Support that gave him the opportunity to train at one of the most prestigious BJJ academies in New York City. There he was able to take private lessons and train with some of the biggest names in Jiu Jitsu.

However as a young adult he began to feel his goals were not being supported in the way he needed and Gianni made the controversial decision to switch academies.

Moving just a few blocks away to another prestigious but competing academy, Gianni continued to train with some of the most respected BJJ Black Belts in the world. But in doing so he faced severe backlash.
