Evan Dunfee is one of Canada’s most decorated Track and Field athletes: he has won medals at the Pan Am Games, the World Championships, and the Olympics. But the one piece of hardware that has eluded him is a medal from the Commonwealth Games. Evan has spent his career as a 50K race walk specialist, so when World Athletics announced that it would be dropping the 50K and replacing it with a 35K distance, Evan was crushed. He thought his career might be coming to a close. But then he surprised himself with not only a 6th place finish at this summer’s World Championships, but also a Commonwealth Games gold medal, and Games and Canadian record in the 10K walk one week later.
