As the temperature rises, summer is most definitely just around the corner. In today’s episode, personal trainer, podcaster, and online coach Sylvester Sweeney gets together with Charlie as they point out the common mistakes that most people do to get in shape for the summer. People take one thing that they want to hear, then they run with it, but no one thing is going to solve their fitness dilemmas. It’s the compound effect of proper nutrition, sleep, workout routine, and consistency.
Sylvester substantiates the relevance of using logic to look at things and not follow every gimmick you find online. He also mentions that it's not what you do and how much you do it. But it’s how you do it that’s going to have the biggest impact on your end results. Charlie also adds tidbits of helpful insights on what to do when you are constantly traveling.
“Ask yourself, where are you actually at? If you were to film yourself and send it over, would you be confident that it would be right? If not, stop stacking weight and start completing the exercise well.”

“Once you start the process of kidney disease, it’s really a matter of time when you’re going to be in failure.”

Do you know anyone who has had or is thinking of getting surgery to lose weight? Is this really a viable option so that you can skip the meal plans, the workouts, the diets, and all that jazz? Dan Simmons is back in today’s episode to team up with Charlie as they examine and deliberate on the positive and negative effects of weight loss surgery. Learn how dealing with stress can affect the way you eat.
Plus, as a recap from the previous episode, it’s not how much food someone is eating but the number of calories that they are taking in. You need to understand that the body is one big machine. You need fat everywhere in your body for it to operate; you cannot just suck the fat out and expect to look the way you want to look without looking like a bag of bones.
“Hard work will trump anything. The thought in someone’s head to say you are going to get fat sucked out, it’s not going to happen.”
- Daniel Simmons

Most people have the preoccupation that for one to lose weight, you have to go through a process of starving yourself or limiting your food intake. Joining Charlie today is CJ Coaching’s head coach, Jeremy Boisseau, and they are here to invalidate everyone’s fixation on the starvation diet. Jeremy expresses his take on how eating more calories will benefit your fat loss journey and the advantages of following and sticking to food restrictions.
If you are doing every single thing you are meant to be doing even when it seems unrewarding, and nothing seems to be happening, you need to trust that it is. Because it might just be another day or so, and then something is going to click again, and you are going to see progress skyrocket.
“People view restriction when they’re following meal plans as a bad thing because they can’t have stuff like a burrito, but you need to start viewing it as a good thing. You need to restrict the bad stuff.”
- Jeremy Boisseau
