Meet Chie Addington, the Chief Administrative Officer at Töst Beverages (based in Vermont!). Töst is an alcohol free, sparkling, all natural, low calorie celebratory beverage. Töst comes in two flavors, original and rose - and we love the both!

We hear the story that led to founding Töst and talk about how they decided to make a new category of beverage instead of dealcoholized wine. There was a lot of work and exploration that went into finding the perfect taste and right feel. 

We originally found our way to Töst after we published an article about skiing and alcohol. Skiers are 43% more likely to be involved in a crash when alcohol is involved. In the past 5 years, 3.8 million people reported injuries while skiing that were a direct result of alcohol consumption.  And while we love a good cocktail, we wait till apres to enjoy. We talk about the trend towards non-alcoholic options on mountains and in ski town restaurants. Chie points to a more health conscious society and better non-alcoholic options like Töst.  

Chie tells us about growing up skiing in Japan, ranging from smaller local mountains to the epic resorts of Hokkaido. Chie describes the mountainside cuisine and warm teas at the Japanese ski resorts. Nowadays, Chie and her family spend a lot of time at Bromley Mountain in Vermont.

Stacey moved to Park City to accept her new role with the POWDR Corporation. She brings her lobbying experience to the mountains as she takes on this new role. 

Prior to joining POWDR, Stacey served as a principal at Monument Advocacy, a bi-coastal advocacy firm, where she consulted on public relations and government affairs for top corporations and associations around the world. POWDR  Corporation, owns and operates ski resorts in the United States and Canada including Snowbird, Woodward, Copper Mountain, Killington, and other mountains. It is headquartered in Park City, Utah, which allows Hutchinson to spend plenty of time doing her research while skiing. 

We talk with Stacey about how she carves out time for skiing and she gives us tips on how to lobby for our own ski mom concerns. We also talk about mom-life and trying to make time to ski as a family.

Stacy’s top policy concerns include environmental issues, affordable housing and access to visas for international recruiting. In this episode we talk with Robin Hall, the co-founder of Town Hall, a sustainable outdoor apparel company for adults and children. Town Hall has a great variety of items from puffers and fleeces to hats and sweatshirts. The company is based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. 

We learn all about Robin’s career path from the GAP headquarters in San Francisco to Vail Resorts in Breckenridge, CO. Robin wanted to get back into the apparel industry and found a role at Smartwool where she spent 11 years in roles ranging from retail, finance, strategy and sustainability. 

We also learn all about the Steamboat Springs community which has great activities year round.  Steamboat Ski Resort is owned by Alterra and is unlimited on the Ikon pass. Steamboat is fairly easy to get to by plane (3.5 hours from Denver) and the town and the ski resort are connected by free shuttles.

Jackson Hole is a place for people that love adventure and skiing, and has something for every budget from the Four Seasons to hostels.  There is terrain for every level and even separate areas for beginners and intermediate skiers. 

We get all sorts of great tips from ski rentals to their world class Mountain Sports School. Jackson Hole is unique in that they manage their mountain capacity by both pricing and reservations (for Ikon Pass and Mountain Collective).  Jackson Hole has an iconic tram that can get 100 people up the mountain at a time.
