Barbara Hamilton, MD is an interventional radiologist, physician leader, and mom, who blogs at TiredSuperheroine.com. She is currently the Chair of interventional Radiology at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California. She went to med school at Rutgers, was a radiology resident at Brown, and did her IR fellowship at UCLA. Apparently IR has a problem with PR. Some of us could be more familiar with all of the different procedures that they do and for me and my family, it hit really close to home.
From TIPS procedures to fibroid embolization, to treating vasculopathy, they have lots to offer our patients and usually under conscious-sedation. But just because they can doesn’t mean they should, so we get into the evolving ethics of IR.
Dr. Hamilton helps aspiring and early career doctors find work life balance and financial empowerment through her writing, coaching and speaking. Through a behind-the-scenes view, her audience gets to see her in the trenches, learning leadership skills, and balancing a demanding job with family life. Ultimately, she strives to be an example of what is possible for her audience.
She uses a mix of fear-busting, idea sharing, and general cheerleading to provide her audience virtual support through their medical training so they can transition to full, multifaceted lives as attending physicians.
