What or who is the Wild Feminine within?

There's a lot in the online space these days about unleashing the wild feminine or re-wilding the feminine. While I think that's awesome, I think some of the marketing out there can be misleading.

I've seen a lot of messaging that implies that for a woman to reclaim her wild she needs to be overtly sexual and/or she needs to go through some kind of deep dark messy cathartic process that will totally disrupt her life. 

While that may be some women's experience, it doesn't have to be that way. And I feel that message can end up putting pressure on women to be performative. Or it gives the feeling that there's a certain way to "do it right".

What I've found to be true is that our erotic wild nature is intimately connected with the rhythm and flow of nature and when we honor that and celebrate that our re-wilding becomes a lot more easeful, and natural. Not to mention fun!

We tend to over complicate things. You are a wild child by nature. It's your birthright to claim it. The permission you need is right in your own back yard, or local forest, or any where in nature that speaks to you.

This week I want to share about how I started to get Zen with pleasure with a practice called Orgasmic Meditation.

When I started to bring a deeper quality of mindfulness into my pleasure practice things started to root a new and more profound way. 

We have so many distractions when it comes to our sensuality and sensuality. 
Things can get complicated and confusing fast. 

I found that when I learned to let go of goal setting in the bedroom, and embraced flow, connection and presence it paved the way to a much deeper experience of intimacy, joy, creativity in and out of the bedroom.

Simplicity it turns out was the key to finding my authentic erotic rhythm
and feeling deeply nourished by sex.

In this episode I want to get a little personal.
Because I feel it may be of service.
About 20 years ago my marriage was on the rocks.
And I had no clue what to do about it.
Hell, I was so resentful that I wasn't even sure I wanted to do anything about it.

At that time I was lucky enough to find teachers who were living in a very different paradigm when it came to men and relationships.
Teachers who were teaching some ancient truths that brought a whole new perspective.

Trigger warning. When I first learned about this it was a lot to swallow. It took some work to let it seep in. And even more to start to explore it.

Do you know that famous quote by Gloria Steinem: "The truth will set you free. But first it will piss you off?"
It was kinda like that.

Your time is such a precious resource and for most women it seems like it's in short supply. If you feel like your days are packed and you barely have time to take a deep breath, you're in good company.

The pace of life can definitely create a strong narrative that we have no time for pleasure, creativity, joy and all the good things in life.

I get that.
I feel that way at times as well.
And I want to challenge that.

Creating spaciousness in our lives is essential for tapping into our pleasure and our magic.

The tough news is that no one can create that space in our lives except us.
No blaming and shaming here, but it's so true.

The tsunami of busyness is consuming women around the globe.
Not to sound too alarmist but it's reaching a crisis level.

But we can turn the tides, when we decide.
We have a lot more agency than modern culture leads us to believe.

Is pleasure selfish?
I used to think so.
What I've found to be true is the opposite.

The deeper I've gone into my sensual embodiment practices over the last 15 years or so, the more I see the effect it continues to have not just on me but on everyone in my life.

As within, so without.

And I see similar effects with my clients.

There are a number of things I've observed over the years that can happen when a woman commits to her pleasure I'll list just a few.

When we reclaim our pleasure:

• We build presence, power and resilience.
• We become more joyful, hopeful, more peaceful and naturally more full of gratitude. 
• We become more creative.
• We reclaim our natural radiance; we glow.
• We celebrate the beauty and power of other women.
• We start to appreciate men.
• We become more fully alive, passionate and inhabit our libido.
• We begin to take better care of ourselves in all ways.
• We're more able to find our calm in the storm and better at not sweating the small stuff. 
• We get better at honoring and feeling our emotions and are able to tap into their wisdom.
• We connect more deeply to our intuition.
• We stop blaming, and take responsibility. 
• We're more able to step away from drama and get better at cultivating connection.
• We begin to feel full, fueled; deeply nourished. 
• We align with our true north.
• We claim our worth, begin to value ourselves more and often get better with money.
• We begin to get really clear on our desires and speak our truth.  
• We get much better at setting boundaries. We find our voice in a new way.
• We begin to have more body confidence in and out of the bedroom.
• We don't fret about growing older, we relish it.
• We become multi-orgasmic.
• We start to fall in love with ourselves in a very deep and even romantic way. 
• We find true compassion for ourselves and others.

These are all different facets of embodying the sacred feminine essence within.

And it changes everything.

Pleasure, your pleasure, is really the foundation of how you can truly live the life you came here to live. And give your gifts from a full cup.

One of the silver lining gifts of the challenging pandemic years was the rise of the home practice. During global lockdown folks got busy creating home gyms, meditation spaces, yoga spaces and more.

By carving out physical space in their homes, people went deeper with whatever practice they were engaging with. That's empowerment!

When it comes to mindful sensuality practice, Tantric and Taoist practices, contrary to popular belief, you don't need to go to Bali, or Thailand or Tulum.

I've found that the best way to get sustainable results with practices like the Jade Egg, is to have a dedicated home practice.

That doesn't mean we need to go it alone.

Sisterhood is essential for sensual healing.

Who knew that a Zoom room could double as a Venus Temple?!

I feel that when a woman gets to explore these kinds of practices in her own space and at her own pace and she gets to have sisterhood support as well, we have a recipe for success.
