Michele Mani joins the podcast to talk about self-disclosure. This tool is so often used in therapy, but as you’ll hear in this episode, there is A LOT to unpack about its use. I’m so thankful that Michele came today to share her expertise in ways that will make us all better! My favorite part was her reminder that there’s a difference between psychological scars and psychological wounds. Ugh! SO GOOD! Be on the lookout for additional episodes with Michele as we continue to discuss this!

Imposter syndrome is a common experience for many people, but when I heard my guest, Kindall Tyson, share her thoughts I was moved to reflect on so many things in a new way. I loved how she shared that "everything is useful" and self-challenging questions like "what are some of the challenges I got through to get here?" can be helpful in small ways to overcome imposter syndrome. Most importantly, I am just so grateful to have shared space with Kindall this morning and I know you will be happy you shared space with us also. :)

I am so thankful we are talking about ADHD in women this week. It's critical that we take a broader picture of what ADHD is (and isn't) - but especially in women! Danielle Peters joins the podcast again today to chat all things ADHD. I especially loved when she said that we need to "learn with your brain instead of against your brain." BEAUTIFUL! Tune in this week as she shares what to recognize in women with ADHD, and ways to beat the stigma of asking for help. :)
As always, thanks for tuning in, folks!! Your support matters more than you know!

Dr. Akua Boateng came back to the podcast to talk about the power of friendship, with a particular bend toward self-compassion and self-inquiry. Her perspective on "you are new at this" when it comes to understanding our place in specific friendships was SO GOOD. In fact, there were so many moments in this episode where I was taking notes for my own life! One of my favorite quotes from this episode was "our resting position should remind people of our humanness." WHAT?!!? That's just amazing profound and simply breathtaking. Thank you to Dr. Akua for taking time to share with us today. Enjoy!
Dr. Boateng, a native of California, is a licensed psychotherapist with an emphasis in individual and couples therapy. With 13 years of experience in clinical practice and education, she specializes in an integrative approach to treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, work concerns, grief, couple and relationship issues and several other emotional concerns. Due to her passion for relationships and couple work, she completed a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Eastern University in Philadelphia, PA. She presently works in private practice in South Philadelphia. Dr. Boateng’s desire is for individuals to overcome their personal obstacles that often create barriers in relationships. She works with clients to take ownership of their emotional health, become aware of unhealthy patterns and work toward a more authentic existence so that they can partner well.

Dependence is a dirty word in our society. Independence is the “goal”. But what if it’s not? What if that very way of thinking is the thing that keeps us from having healthy attachments and connection in our relationships? My guest, Liz Polinsky, comes on today to help us see that HEALTHY dependence should be our goal in relationships. And better yet, she shares tips on HOW we can take small steps toward achieving that! What a gift we have in Liz’s invaluable expertise in couples work.
Elizabeth Polinsky is a marriage counselor at The Relationship Center in Norfolk, Virginia. She is also the host of The Communicate & Connect Podcast for Military Relationships.

Friendship seems like a simple topic. It’s something we all know about because we engage in friendships from a very young age. Yet some friendships are better than others. Why is that?! Join me and my guest, Dr Jerry Novack, as we explore our meanings of friendship and how this seemingly simple topic can get complicated.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have one resource that could provide fitness, financial, professional, social, and psychological information and coaching? This is exactly what Dr. Jerry “Sunshine” Novack provides. A certified personal trainer (NASM) since 1997, Dr. Sunshine received his BA in Public Relations in 1995, his MA in Counselor Education in 2006, and his PhD in Counseling Psychology in 2012. After completing his doctorate, Dr. Sunshine commissioned as an officer and active-duty psychologist in the US Air Force. In 2019, Dr. Sunshine left active service under honorable conditions and accepted work as a civilian psychologist. Dr. Sunshine transitioned out of clinical work into coaching in 2021 and is currently adding a financial coaching credential to his resume’. Dr. Sunshine has published multiple articles and book chapters in a variety of academic journals and popular media. He was given the name “Sunshine” by his brothers and sisters in B.A.C.A. ( https://bacaworld.org ) as a nod to his “Sunny New Jersey disposition.”
