Welcome to episode #683 of Six Pixels of Separation.
Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #683 - Host: Mitch Joel. For the past 25 years, Liane Davey has researched and advised teams on how to achieve high performance. Known as the "teamwork doctor," she's worked with teams from the frontlines to the boardroom, across a variety of industries, and around the globe from Boston to Bangkok. In working with hundreds of teams, including 26 Global Fortune 500 companies (and counting), she has developed a unique perspective on the challenges that teams face – and how to solve them. Beyond her work in the boardroom, Liane is a New York Times Bestselling author of You First - Inspire Your Team to Grow Up, Get Along, and Get Stuff Done. More recently she published her sophomore effort, The Good Fight - Use productive conflict to get your team and organization back on track. In short, fights within an organization should not be avoided... they should be embraced (and encouraged). Is your team worth fighting for? Your business? Here's how to fight fair. Welcome to episode #682 of Six Pixels of Separation.
Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #682 - Host: Mitch Joel. Steve Susi began his career as a creative in the advertising agencies of yesterday. He then discovered the Internet, and started building digital teams back in 1995. From there he took on major creative roles in some of the nascent digital marketing shops, working on the earliest forms of the commercial Internet. After 16 years, Steve Susi joined Amazon Advertising as its NYC creative director in 2012, where his teams would deliver original brand experiences on behalf of hundreds of advertisers and millions of customers worldwide. In 2014 he became its first group creative director and, two years later, first executive creative director, moving to London to lead creative operations across Europe, Asia, and Canada. In 2016, he received the first Amazon Inventor Award granted to Advertising outside the US for patent-pending innovation. Most recently, he published his first book, Brand Currency - A Former Amazon Exec on Money, Information, Loyalty, and Time. Enjoy the conversation...
Welcome to episode #681 of Six Pixels of Separation.
Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #681 - Host: Mitch Joel. Montreal in the summer is a magical time. From the Festival International De Jazz De Montreal to Montreal ComicCon and Heavy Montreal (coming up this weekend!) to the famed Just For Laughs Comedy Festival (which is happening now). When the line-up was announced for Just For Laughs, I saw that my fellow TEDster, Baratunde Thurston, was going to be coming to town to host (and moderate) a panel called, Political Comedy on Political Change. We had a chance to sit down and record during an incredible day of sunshine, right before his event. For those who don't know, Baratunde Thurston is an Emmy-nominated writer, activist, and comedian who has worked for The Onion, produced for The Daily Show, advised the Obama White House. He also cleaned bathrooms to pay for his Harvard education. He hosts the iHeartMedia podcast Spit, wrote the New York Times bestseller, How To Be Black, and serves on the boards of BUILD and the Brooklyn Public Library. Baratunde makes media, delivers keynotes, and promotes action with his unique blend of criticism, humor, and optimism. He's most invested in topics of race, technology, democracy, and climate (because the hard stuff has already been solved). He's got one of the warmest hearts and biggest brains. Welcome to episode #680 of Six Pixels of Separation.
Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #680 - Host: Mitch Joel. This past week, Cleveland, Ohio hosted the first-ever Marketing Artificial Intelligence Conference. This event was put on by my good friend, Paul Roetzer, and his Marketing Artificial Intelligence Institute. Paul is also the founder of PR 20/20 and the author of two business books, The Marketing Agency Blueprint and The Marketing Performance Blueprint. The Marketing Artificial Intelligence Conference hosted over 300 delegates, and included keynote speaker (and friend), Douglas Rushkoff. I also had the please of delivering my new keynote presentation, Hello Voice, which is all about smart audio and smart speakers. After my keynote, Paul invited me to have a conversation with Kass Dawson. Kass is the Head of Marketing and Strategy for SoftBank Robotics. The session was titled, Advancing Humanity and Business with Robotics. We all agreed that this should be recorded for this week's episode of Six Pixels of Separation Podcast. And so we did. And here we are. Live from the Marketing Artificial Intelligence Conference this past week… Enjoy the conversation...
Welcome to episode #679 of Six Pixels of Separation.
Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #679 - Host: Mitch Joel. Over a decade ago, Rob Walker was on this show. It speaks to the longevity of the show, but more importantly, it speaks to value and work that Rob Walker brings into our world. I had been following him long before we first recorded back in 2008 (and I have been following him ever since). Rob Walker is a journalist covering design, technology, business, the arts, and other subjects. He writes the Human Resource column for Lifehacker, and has contributed to publications like The New York Times (where he wrote The Workologist column from 2013 - 2018), The New York Times Magazine (his amazing Consumed column ran from 2004 - 2012), Bloomberg, The Atlantic and many others. His first two book, Letters From New Orleans and Buying In (a must-have for anyone in business) were both bestsellers. His latest book, The Art of Noticing - 131 ways to spark creativity, find inspiration and discover joy in the everyday, is amazing. He is on the faculty of the Products of Design MFA program at the School of Visual Arts and his newsletter, The Art of Noticing, is one everyone should subscribe to. In this episode we discuss creativity, inspiration and much more. Enjoy the conversation...
