Welcome to episode #658 of Six Pixels of Separation.
Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #658 - Host: Mitch Joel. He's been running in the digital marketing circle for as long as I can remember. While we have never met in person, we have been connected and following one another's work and perspectives for many years. Shiv Singh now advises Fortune 500 companies and startups on strategy, marketing and how to succeed in the digital era as the Founder of Savvy Matters. Prior to starting his consultancy, Shiv was a senior executive driving marketing, innovation and digital strategies at Visa and PepsiCo. Before that, he was an agency guy (like me) at Razorfish (now PublicisSapient). In 2016, Shiv was inducted into the American Advertising Hall of Achievement has also been recognized by Adweek as a Top 50 marketer. He published the book, Social Media Marketing for Dummies back in 2014 and now he's back with his latest book, Savvy - Navigating fake companies, fake leaders, and fake news in the post-truth era. He co-authored this book wit his wife, Rohini Luthra. Enjoy the conversation...

Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #657 - Host: Mitch Joel. There's no denying that change is important. One of my favourite quotes of all time is this: "If you don't like change, you're going to like irrelevance even less." - Retired United States General, Eric Shinseki. But (as we all know), change is hard. Very hard. And in happens slowly... over time. What if that were not true? What if change could happen in an instant? That is the argument (and strategy) behind the book, The Holy Sh!t Moment - How Lasting Change Can Happen in an Instant by James Fell. James was in debt, drunk, flunking out, and tipping the scales toward obesity, at one point in his life. Still, there was one single moment that changed his life. It was in that moment that split his life in two, dividing it into "before," and "after." From there, James become one of the most popular health and fitness writers in North America (writing for the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, Chatelaine, Men's Health, and many others). He wrote a book about weight loss (Lose It Right), but it's this new book, The Holy Sh!t Moment, that he is most excited about. Can we change in a instant and have it last forever? Enjoy the conversation...

Welcome to episode #656 of Six Pixels of Separation.
Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #656 - Host: Mitch Joel. It's the most wonderful time of the year when I get to speak media theorist, Douglas Rushkoff. He is - without a doubt - one of the smartest humans beings on this earth that I get to call a friend. Douglas is back with one of his most compelling pieces of work. It's not (really) about the media… it's about us. It's about our need to find "find the others" and figure out how we - as a team - are going to work in this ever-technological world. Humans feel more isolated and repressed than ever before, and it's going to take teamwork to pull this all together if we don't want to lose out to automation, robotics and algorithms. That's his new book, Team Human. Named one of the world's ten most influential intellectuals by MIT, Douglas Rushkoff is an award-winning author, broadcaster, and documentarian who studies human autonomy in the digital age. He hosts the popular Team Human podcast, Rushkoff has written twenty books, including the bestsellers Present Shock and Program or Be Programmed, plus he's a regular writer for CNN, Daily Beast, and The Guardian. He is also the person who made the PBS Frontline documentaries Generation Like and The Merchants of Cool. Douglas coined such concepts as "viral media" and "social currency," and has been a leading voice for applying digital media toward social and economic justice. He is a research fellow of the Institute for the Future, and founder of the Laboratory for Digital Humanism at CUNY/Queens, where he is a professor of media theory and digital economics. I'm up for the challenge of building team human… are you? Enjoy the conversation...

Here it is: Six Pixels of Separation - Episode #654 - Host: Mitch Joel. I love people are not only creative, but understand how to talk about creativity. It's something that deeply motivates me to make stuff. Srinivas Rao is the host and founder of The Unmistakable Creative podcast, where he has conducted over 600 interviews with thought leaders and people from all walks of life (sounds familiar!). He's also the author of three books, including The Art of Being Unmistakable, Unmistakable - Why Only is Better than Best, and his latest, An Audience of One - Reclaiming Creativity for Its Own Sake. His work has been featured in many new outlets and publications. Many people also cite The Unmistakable Creative as being one of the more compelling podcasts on the creative landscape. What if creativity wasn't a job, but the work that you were meant to do? Here's what that might look (and sound) like. Enjoy the conversation...
