What does it take to cultivate a positive mindset? Listen, it's easy to be negative because it's a symptom of our culture and society--it's everywhere. Every day I have to 'tune out" negative sounds, images and words. Why do I make a habit of doing this? Because if I don't, the negativity drains my energy and when my energy is drained and I'm surrounded by negativity, I turn that negative energy on myself. I get crabby, I get consumed in negative thoughts about myself and I don't move forward. I stay stuck and I don't want to be stuck or waste precious days of my life consumed by negative thoughts. In this episode I share strategies and tips on how to create a positive mindset so you don't get caught in a cycle of negativity that does nothing to enhance This Life of yours. Balance seems to be elusive to a lot of people. There are even some people that say balance is bullshit. I don't buy that. I believe you create a life of balance. The key word there is create. Balance isn't something you find or that magically appears when your kids are grown and out of the house, or when you're retired, or when you have more money or when, when, when. Balance is created through intentional and purposeful boundary setting. You can define those boundaries and create a life in balance, but it takes work. So, if you keep saying that you wish you had better balance in life, maybe it's time to stop wishing and start creating the balance you desire. New Year, Same Me. No resolutions. No magic overnight transformation to achieve that "New Year, New You" bull I keep hearing. Just a midlife woman, trying to be more and do less. Yup, you heard me. Do Less. I have been doing ALL THE THINGS for years and in the process, I have forgotten what it means to just be, to be a human BEing instead of a human DOing. So, I don't feel the need to proclaim my resolutions to the world just because the calendar flipped to January 1. I'll set goals. I will do more than lay on my couch this year. I just don't need to have that all figured out on the first day of the new year. If you're feeling a little directionless, uninspired, or generally lost, you're not alone and everything will be ok. Slow down Be Still. Listen and just Be. In this episode I share with you my "a ha" moment I had at age 39 and how my definition and image of physical wellness changed after a visit to the doctor and receiving some scary test results. Up until that point, I took my able body for granted and abused it with food and underused it by being sedentary. I discuss discovering fitness and how to eat better in my 40s, how my personal value for my health has changed as I approach "50" and what it means to me to have good physical wellness. Hint? It's not a pant size or a number on a scale. I'm known as a person who embraces and makes changes, someone who is ambitious, and also encourages others to take action in their life NOW. So, today's episode might seem like the complete opposite of who I am. I'm giving myself permission to pause. In this episode I share how pushing hard for something you want doesn't always lead to the outcome you desire and it can actually have the opposite effect. Listen as I share how I'm approaching life with a lot more pause and a lot less pushing and driving towards my goals. If you are feeling tired, burnt out, and doing ALL THE THINGS because that's what you're supposed to do not because it's what you want to do, it might be a good time for you to pause. In this episode, I explore what home means to me and how I create the feeling of home wherever I go, especially now that I am away from the only home base I've ever known. So, if you’ve ever felt a sense of not belonging, been away from loved ones, felt disconnected from your home, your roots, your people, don’t have a community of close friends, have moved a lot, or find yourself in a place of life where your normal definition of home has changed due to loss, separation, or a move, then today's podcast might give you a different way to think about home. I've got recipes on my mind! In this week's episode, I'm giving you my recipe for success. In this week's episode, I'm sharing with you the importance of saying "NO" and I talk about how I have stopped apologizing (to myself and to everyone else) for my actions, my inactions, and my journey in life. This middle of life place I find myself in brings me a great sense of empowerment, knowing I have so much life to live yet and so much more I can do, yet also a sense of urgency that time is ticking and I am not wasting the time I have left apologizing for being me or saying yes when I want to say no. In this week's episode, I'm coming to you from my new home in San Diego! I'm also calling myself out. I have said never a lot in my life and the fact is, never is pretty restrictive in a world of infinite possibilities. Saying never is pretty darn definite and it will limit your life experiences which will ultimately end up limiting your life. I discuss how I'm not too proud to admit that a lot of the "nevers" I proclaimed when I left my career three years ago mostly turned out to be false. I also discuss how using never in regards to who you are or what you can do prevents you from living This Life, this one and only life, the way you deserve and dream of living it.
