  • What it Feels like to Break Your Income Barrier

Today we’re going to talk about what happens when you break through an income barrier. I feel like there are usually a lot of setbacks that happen along the way; usually it is up and down and often feels horrible. Gay Hendricks, in The Big Leap, really translates yogic concepts into pop psychology terms. Our nervous systems are trained to hold a certain amount of energy. When we practice yoga, we expand the amount of energy we can contain. Money is a form of energy, and like yoga, requires awareness and attention to the flow of energy in our lives and between us and our clients.

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

    • Understand the energetic exchange that occurs between you and your clients so that you can better manage how your energy best benefits your clients and yourself
    • See how shadow work, right relationships, skill sets, and resources play a role in breaking income barriers
    • Understand the importance of acculturation in making the mutual decision to work together as client and holistic wellness practitioner
    • Feel into the beauty and importance of pointing expansive awareness to your financial capacity

  • Soup with Cate Stillman

I am going to talk with you guys today about soup.

    Yup. Soup.

Because here in the northern hemisphere, many of you are heading into the holiday season, and people tend to overeat. People tend to eat too heavy and too late. In order to live in rhythm with the daily cycle winter we need a lot of hydration, and the hydration needs to be warm. Warm and liquid in the winter is much more energy efficient. With soup, you have an ideal medium for delivering nutrition to balance out the cold, dry season.

    I rap about:

    • Why soup is a great regular meal choice for the winter
    • The importance and ease of making your own stock or broth
    • 3 quick recipes you can riff on to start to automate soup-making

  • Becoming A Yoga Writer With Ntathu Allen

On today’s show I talk to author and meditation teacher Ntathu Allen. Ntathu originally trained as a probation officer working in a demanding inner-city borough in South-East London, supervising adult and young offenders in custody and in the community. Yoga inspired her to make a big career shift. Now, she has written more than seven books that are for sale on Amazon.

One big reason I brought her on the show is because I know many of you are wondering about Kindle/Amazon, and I’ve also recently been offered a publishing deal. So, there’s a lot going on in the publishing world! For many of us who want to write from our souls, there can be the question of how to use our writing and our creativity in a way that can reach more people and that can also lead to our own personal abundance. That’s where our Dharma and Dollars show heads today!

I rap with Ntathu Allen about:
    • Transitioning into a Yoga career
    • How Ntathu published seven books for Kindle… and what she’s choosing next for publishing
    • Hiring our kids to work in our businesses

What you’ll get out of tuning in:
    • Learn the benefits (and see Ntathu’s process as an example) of making a career change
    • Understand the importance of marketing and why outside help can be essential in navigating the publishing process
    • See why you should write your profit book before you write your passion book

    • 2:00 — Ntathu outlines her career path and explains how her Yoga practice made her realize she was dissatisfied with what was going on in her life. She reached a state in her life where she wanted to follow the calling in her heart and take a leap of faith. Yoga inspired her to spread her essence of peace to more people and spurred her to make a career change.
    • 8:20 — Ntathu explains the process of “going public” and uploading her first book to Amazon. It was scary, and she struggled with marketing, but interest in her material steadily grew. Getting assistance with marketing and promotion via a publisher was an important facet behind the attention her books have been getting. It allowed her to get her work heard in an effortless way so she could focus on writing.
    • 13:50 – Ntathu shares her advice for people who have a manuscript waiting to be published but are nervous about taking the next step toward publishing. At first she was worried because there were already so many Yoga books out there, but she realized there weren’t any Yoga books from her. That realization while she was becoming a Yoga writer helped her understand the value in her perspective and voice.
    • 17:35 — Find out how to get kids involved in your business and your creative process. At almost any age, there’s something they can do to help. One important thing to do is figure out ideas that we can help them pursue, and then let them decide how they want to participate.
    • 22:45 — Cate discusses her experience with the publishing process and provides tips on developing a leverageable business model with the book as the product.

  • Mindfulness + Intermittent Fasting: A Womens’ Perspective with Jenn Diamond

Seven years ago, intermittent fasting for fat loss was a controversial topic...now it seems everyone is doing it. The problem is no one wants to lift weights - which is the KEY to success as far as my experience has shown. I brought Jenn Diamond, a leader of a women’s group on Facebook that experiments with IF, onto the show to take a look at intermittent fasting from a woman’s perspective.

As we all know, it takes work to sift through what the experts have to say in order to find what works for us. The Yogahealer community really zeroed in on IF. I continue to get all kinds of questions on process and what are the best options - particularly for how to adapt to what is unique about women’s physiology. The Leangains 16/8 method which is what I and Jenn base our food/exercise rhythms on, is really about body re-compositioning--for those who want to lose body fat and add lean bulk. In this episode we get into what to consider in order to adapt an IF method like Leangains into your routine.

Intermittent Fasting for fat loss, which was a controversial topic seven years ago when I first discovered it, has become as mainstream as Atkins or the South Beach Diet - it seems everyone is doing it now. The problem is no one wants to actually lift weights - which is the KEY to success as far as my experience has shown.

Read that you enjoy the Leangains 16/8 method. When did you first discover it and why did you decide to try it?

Are you still following the Leangains method?

Do you also strength train to the degree Martin recommends for both men and women? If not, why?

    What about different body types?

Make a plan and stick with it for a month before you will know if it will work for you. The purpose of these macros, as I follow them, is to lose body fat and add a little lean mass. If you want more of a bulk, increase your protein requirements and subtract from carbs and fat respectively. Leangains-style of IF is more of a body re-composition program.

I rap with Jenn Diamond about:

    • how she finds ease in balancing exercise, IF, career, and family
    • how being in fat metabolism leads to a more chill lifestyle all around
    • staying away from the female athlete triad by making IF about listening to your body’s needs
    • how important strength training is to reshaping the body

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

    • Understand how IF adds to easeful living and frees up energy for other things
    • Gain new insights into how to make IF work with your life and your lifestyle
    • Understand how crucial mindfulness and intuition are to being healthy about experimenting with IF

  • Unboxing the 4 Yogic Aims of Life with Acharya Shunya

A key concept in Yogic scripture and Ayurvedic practice is the four proper goals or aims of a human life. The four puruṣārthas in order are

    (1) Artha: roof over your head, money in the bank

    (2) Kama: feeling good, having fun

    (3) Dharma:  awake to a bigger purpose

    (4) Moksha: perpetually getting out of your own box

I rap with Acharya Shunya of Vedika Global about the dynamic pulsation between moksha and dharma in the modern age:

    • Why The concept of life purpose (purushartha) in ayurveda and why that matters for health
    • How is dharma changing with technology, and societal freedoms?

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

    • To live your dharma, you need regular access to moksha, your freedom. Acharya says, “if you don’t claim moksha, which to me is moment-to-moment claiming of our selves, then you start living a script, and scripts are toxic.” Today we have such a gift of wealth of tools and choices for pulsating between “the moksha moment” and what we are called to do next. Tune in to hear Cate and Acharya rap about moksha and dharma in the modern age with our abundance of technology and cultural habit of trying to push through murkiness rather than sink into it. Tap in to acknowledging your deeper desire for spiritual freedom from listening to their discussion of how dharma is changing with technology and societal freedoms and how moksha creates inner space for decrystalizing our illusions and boundedness.

    • Awake Living + The 4 Aims Of Life

    Show Highlights:

    • 14:00—Acharya breaks down the Sanskrit of moksha to show the process of finding where we are “bound” by beliefs or culture or some other lack of tuning in inwardly.
    • 20:10—Can we honestly confront the sleepwalking behaviors of modern society within ourselves? Are we living in right relationship to the technology and tools available to us today?
    • 27:30—Looking at Oprah’s life, we get to realize how many models are out there who are tuned in to self-invention as a regular practice.
    • 30:12—We can tap our intuition to lean in to always being a bigger version of ourselves by letting go of our selves and what we think we already know. Cate and Acharya rap about their personal exponential growth through decrystalizing the illusions and boundedness.
    • 34:30—Cate and Acharya explore the discomfort around pausing to accept that being unclear can be okay, and trying to push forward through obligation is trying to follow a script. There is a bridge to explore between knowing and not-knowing.

    • “From a moksha place, what will dharma do with me next?” --Cate Stillman
    • “Moksha is not an event. It’s a journey, and we can’t have a one-time episode of remembering our spiritual bigness.” --Acharya Shunya
    • “With more moksha, there’s more potentiality for what’s possible.” --Cate Stillman
    • “I’ve become a first-class passenger through life, and I’m still waiting and pausing to decrystalize that illusion as life keeps presenting itself to me.” --Acharya Shunya
    • “Trying to push through the darkness is inefficiency. I’m slowly learning to recognize when I’m not clear and waiting for the moment to present itself for when movement is ready.” --Cate Stillman

  • Breaking Through Your Gratitude Glass Ceiling

I’ve been using Gay Hendrick’s book, The Big Leap in teaching the Awake Living Course. Awake Living is all about upleveling your experience of the five elements from Ayurveda to become who you want to become.

We use many tools from many teachings and teachers. I synergize the tools into a system that walks my members through upleveling the elements (ether, air, fire, water, and earth) in their day to day lives. It works. We have breakthroughs left and right.

    I practice what I preach.

I’m always a course member, which still being the head coach.

I’m really good at kickout out pedastals and experimenting with my members.

In today’s episode I tell a personal story about what is happening as I break through my own upper limits. I give you a very real life example of how I break through my gratitude glass ceiling.

    Happy thanksgiving!

“By extending your ability to feel positive feelings, you expand your tolerance for things going well in your life.”

“I expand in abundance, success, and love every day, as I inspire those around me to do the same.”

― Gay Hendricks, The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level

“Letting yourself savor natural good feelings is a direct way to transcend your Upper Limit Problem. By extending your ability to feel positive feelings, you expand your tolerance for things going well in your life. In”

― Gay Hendricks, The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level

“The goal in life is not to attain some imaginary ideal; it is to find and fully use our own gifts.”

― Gay Hendricks, The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level

“Your capacity expands in small increments each time you consciously let yourself enjoy the money you have, the love you feel, and the creativity you are expressing in the world. As that capacity for enjoyment expands, so does your financial abundance, the love you feel, and the creativity you express.”

If you focus for a moment, you can always find some place in you that feels good right now. Your task is to give the expanding positive feeling your full attention. When you do, you will find that it expands with your attention. Let yourself enjoy it as long as you possibly can.”

    1. “What important feelings am I not letting into my awareness?”

“The art of getting beyond our Upper Limit Problem has a lot to do with creating space within us to feel and appreciate natural good feelings. By natural, I mean good feelings that are not induced by alcohol, sugar and other short term fixes. Letting you savor natural good feelings is a direct way to transcend your Upper Limit Problem. By extending your ability to feel positive feelings, you expand your tolerance for things going well in your life.”  -Gay Hendricks

  • Discovering Your Inner Goddess Potential via Habit Optimization with Cate Stillman

Welcome to this Inner Goddess Workshop! I was a little apprehensive to call it that because there are certain words, like “healer” and “goddess,” that are becoming more common and normal. And that’s great! Most of you who know me well enough, though, know that I’m not the most effeminate woman. So I don’t often talk about the Inner Goddess type of experience.

However, a few people on my team and I were talking about this next phase of empowerment in what’s happening within the courses I’m teaching and within my life and what I really want to share. We just decided to call it like it is: the Inner Goddess Workshop. Today’s podcast is a recap of that Inner Goddess Webinar. Get ready to wrap your awareness around what’s going on with your time, your life, and your desires — for now and for the future.

    I rap about:

    • The big issues of time and its impact on identity evolution
    • Why it’s important to befriend your Ayurvedic constitution
    • How balance in the five Ayurvedic elements helps us pursue our potential and make connections
    • How to maximize your true potential

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

    • Learn how to pinpoint when your body wants to change behaviors and how to make those changes
    • Find out why habit optimization can help you get in tune with who you want to become in the future
    • See ways to regain a sense of control over your own identity evolution and reach a sense of release in the process
    • Understand the importance of a pacified nervous system and how it relates to our control over ourselves and our bodies

    Show Highlights:

    • 4:00 — Cate discusses her “before and after” with identity evolution to provide listeners with a better idea about what the process might look like and help them see how they can relate. Many people feel a loss of control over their time, but regaining a sense of time is a massive step in redefining who we want to be — our identity evolution.
    • 13:11 — Consider the biggest challenge in your life. It could be anything, like a relationship, your personal integrity, or your food choices. Many other people are experiencing the same challenges, and understanding this is huge in realizing the need to move to the next level of integrated living.
    • 18:05 — There are five elements in Ayurveda — ether, air, fire, water, earth — and each one has a related experience to it. They’re essentially universal laws based on deep, ancient wisdom concepts of how reality actually works. This fundamental system can help us connect more and experience our potential.
    • 26:15 — We often don’t know how to “run” our bodies because we aren’t fostering the right habits. We get toxified and dehydrated and desensitized. Our bodies need more emotional processing and less pollution, whether it’s internal or external.
    • 39: 50 — Without habit automation, it’s really difficult to focus, live into our dharma, and find more time. We can make some progress without having the habits, but with them, we’ll go leaps and bounds in terms of taking back control over our time. We can learn and evolve continually. Once the habits are automated, they’re automated for life.
    • 47:00 — There is a distinct, systematic way to review the strengths we want to develop once we automate our body habits. But we can also make changes outside of ourselves. It’s important to rarify the physical space around us, too — it can actually give us more time.
    • 58:10 — A Q&A with webinar listeners begins.

  • Perseverance + Investment on the Road to Holistic Career Success + Lifestyle Design

The road to success is always bumpy and has detours. If you take on the mindset that your career is your spiritual path — and that your spiritual path gives you protective armor and tools for learning and growing through whatever you encounter — then by golly, you’ll be successful beyond your wildest dreams.

Perseverance to reach a goal, without attachment to how you’ll get there or how easy it’ll be, is key. Being willing to invest appropriately for a scalable return on investment is another goal. Both keys are tackled head-on in today’s episode.

The other very big concept here is that you're after continual evolution of your lifestyle design. Or maybe I’m projecting. I’m after continual evolution of my lifestyle design while I hit increasingly challenging career goals. I’m upping my impact and my days off, and my zone of genius days on, simultaneously. I’m having more fun than ever.

I know this is what we all sense is possible. Getting there is a question of wanting it enough to grow through the shadow issues that tend to surface when you get real about your career. And don’t forget — once you have the right business model, all your past investments will start to pay off. You’ll be able to properly offer your unique services and all the experience and education that you already possess!

I rap with Grace Edison about Perseverance and Investment in Lifestyle Design:

    • How to make past career investments work for you in the future
    • What John 1:2-4 has to do with your holistic career success
    • How to leverage a new strategy to propel yourself and your business forward

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

    • Learn what LLs are and why you need to experience them before you experience an accomplishment
    • See why you actually want to set yourself up for multiple failures in quick succession to enjoy incredible success
    • Learn a cohesive strategy for synthesizing your skills and investments to see amazing business growth

    Show Highlights:

    • 1:40 — We’re all familiar with the concept of planting seeds and having some of them sprout into large plants. Others might be latent and not sprout for years. That’s how investments in your career may be, too. Those career seeds may not produce growth until later on, but they still need to be nurtured.
    • 4:15 — It’s natural to become frustrated with the hard times. But when we learn the lessons and learn a leverageable business model that works with our lifestyle, we relax into the realization of the true benefit of taking a wellness pro career on as a spiritual journey.
    • 9:10 — Many wellness pros often don’t have the right strategy, and it’s hard when you have too many bits and pieces of information but don’t know how to synthesize them. A solid business strategy helps those pieces come together to increase profits, both monetarily and in the ways you can help people.
    • 16:40 — There aren’t many wellness pros out there who have had sales training. Many of them have invested in a lot into their careers, but sales isn’t part of that for them. It’s a piece of training that all of them will need, and it’s important to invest in, even though it might not click initially. Making and nurturing that investment are key.

  • Q&A with Cate: Sussing Out Shakti, Augmenting Agni, + Firing Up Fasting

I’m all fired up for a shakti, agni, and Ayurveda question and answer session! For those of you who went to Yogahealer.com/ask and recorded your questions on SpeakPipe, I get to a lot of those questions on today’s show.

We really dive into the energies. What is shakti? What are shiva and the tantric philosophy? We’ll talk about agni and intermittent fasting. We’ll talk about frozen foods and canned foods and Ayurvedic “rules.” We’ll talk about postpartum and deep, deep energetic recovery for when things go...not well. We’ll also talk about stress, shifting from stressful living to easeful living, and what that’s all about in terms of healing your energy body. Are you ready? Let’s get to the first question!

    I rap about:

    • How shiva and shakti are related and the ways that we can use them to live in alignment with energy to experience more
    • Ways that freezing and thawing can impact pranic foods and still promote organ health
    • The importance of cooperating with the energies of our physiology and the cosmos to design the physiologies we want

What you’ll get out of tuning in:

    • Learn how to empower yourself by understanding your energies and live in alignment
    • Gain a better understanding of cooperating with your physiology and digestive fire by shifting your habits
    • See how devoting yourself to your natural rhythms can make intermittent fasting and meal spacing easier for you — it just takes time!

    Show Highlights:

    • 1:10 — Alyssa asks about shakti. She isn’t quite sure what it is, but thinks it’s more of an attitude or energy of surrender as opposed to forcing something to happen. We have fluctuations in energy, and we have the ability to observe the energy as it changes. Cate gets in depth about what these impulses are, how shiva and shakti are related, and how we can turn our awareness toward what the quality of our energies can become.
    • 4:34 — Joh asks about ama and whether or not we’re completely able to get rid of it. What does it mean for our digestion? We do want to get rid of most of our ama, but we don’t need to become obsessed with it. It’s really hard to stay away from low-quality foods, but most people just don’t have the habits of an ama-free lifestyle. Those habits are what’s important to cultivate, as is eating pranic foods.
    • 11:45 — Kim asks about the pranic value of frozen foods. She’s heard Cate talk about freezing gathered plants for later use, and she also wants to know if hunting for meat and freezing it is more ethical or sustainable. Does freezing the food destroy the energy and nutrients? Short answer: not entirely. Nature freezes and thaws foods, and if we eat frozen foods within a 12-month cycle, they’re fine — often you can still feel their pranic energy.
    • 15:50 — This listener has heard Cate talk a lot about intermittent fasting and wants to know what Cate recommends for a vata who needs to gain weight but is having trouble, particularly with digestion. People with high vata tend to disperse energy due to their shakti. Vata is mobile, and it can cause us to feel unstable. The real question is whether people with a vata (or any) imbalance can enjoy meal spacing, and there’s no one answer — but there are some key ways to get started.
    • 28:10 — A listener asks if it’s okay for kids to do intermittent fasting. Although kids shouldn’t fast intermittently, they can benefit greatly from spacing their meals and by not eating snacks.
    • 30:28 — Alyssa asks about healing during postpartum. What happens when you have a vata imbalance, even a year after giving birth? When a mom gets stressed out after giving birth, it sticks with her — it’s on her “record,” and it’s important for her to go back and re-nurture herself, immersing in healing energy.
