Hour 4 (8.17) Mark Thompson is officially off the market after a low-key wedding to Courtney, just the two of them after years of “road-testing” the relationship and a pre-wedding trip to England and her ancestral Croatia. He also shared close calls with phones and toilets, while Timmy bought a new phone and discovered the UAG Dryout Pouch that actually pulls moisture out better than the old bag of rice.  

Newlywed life is already treating Mark well (his favorite perk so far is that the new Mrs. Thompson left for four days to visit her sister), Arsenio Hall’s top solo-home privilege is the open-door poop, and in Big Bear, Jackie’s widower Shadow may already be moving on with a young eagle named KD1 as a memorial for Jackie is still being planned.

Hour 1 (8.14) Shadow found company four days after Jackie died. KD-1 is 4½, banded, and she's already rearranging Jackie's sticks. Conway can't quit Jackie!  

Jackie died on August 10 after nearly a month of intensive care at the Ojai Raptor Center, following her rescue near Big Bear Lake. Shadow's last nest visit had been July 23 — then on August 10, hours after her death was announced, a young, banded eagle called KD-1 turned up at the nest. She hatched in the Prado Basin in 2022, about 70 miles from Big Bear, and biologists say she's just about old enough to mate. We get into it, plus the LAX train that finally has a date.

Hour 3 (8.14) There's a medical name for what happens to the guy squeezing limes in the sun. There's a hammerhead off the Malibu pier. And the catalytic converter crew now travels with armed security. 

8:05 — Margarita hands. It's phytophotodermatitis: lime juice on the skin, then UVA light, then a burn that shows up hours later. Plus the hammerhead sighting off the Malibu pier and the marine heat wave pushing rays into the shallows — Bolsa Chica and Huntington State Beaches have logged more than 3,100 stings so far this year, twice their total for all of 2025, and San Diego recorded more than 900 in the first half of 2026 alone.
