We grew up hearing the jingle, “First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage!” While we know life doesn’t work like this, that programming can still feel like it’s controlling our subconscious minds. It can feel like those end results are the most important purposes of life. On the flip side, if your life has taken the proverbial love, marriage, baby course, you may feel like the life society told us would deliver ultimate happiness & peace just isn’t the entire story. We’re unpacking it all in today’s episode. Enjoy!

We all know exercise is good for our mental and physical health, but there’s a lot beneath the surface of exercise worth exploring. Today we’re sharing how we were raised to see exercise, our up and down relationships with it, how we relate to it today and what we do to support our mental health with exercise.

This week we’re talking about conflict in friendships! Research shows that our female friendships have more of an impact on our overall life satisfaction than our romantic relationships, which means the feelings we have attached to them can feel more significant than even those of our long-term partners, and that they take work! We share what conflict has looked like in our friendships, including our own. We also break down ways to navigate conflict, how to bring up your feelings, and hear the other person’s POV. This episode is rebranding conflict in friendship as a whole because it truly can be an incredible way to move two people closer together if you approach it the right way. Cheers!

Our society has created two distinct categories: social/normal drinker and alcoholic. The reality is, a lot of us will find ourselves somewhere between the two extremes. Unfortunately because of the way alcohol is promoted and celebrated, it’s easy to internalize the negative effects of it as inherent problems that we embody rather than direct results of the drug. On the other hand, alcohol isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s important to understand the why when we consume it. In this episode, we’re unpacking the gray space of learning about our own relationships to alcohol, how it affects anxiety and depression, hanxiety, the impact of taking time away, and more.
Since Em started examining her relationship with alcohol more closely, these resources have been a huge help to her and some were mentioned in the episode:

Group vacations can be the most fun but still stir up some uncomfy feelings when it comes to traveling and group dynamics. We recently got back from a girl’s trip to celebrate Hannah’s graduation so we’re covering topics like feelings of anxiety or irritability when things are "supposed to be fun", taking space away when in a group setting, feeling anxious traveling with a new group, accepting and speaking your needs in a new setting & also, how damn good it feels to be with a group of incredible women.
