[Content Warning]: Child sexual abuse, sexual assault, extortion, suicide
Today, Jan is joined by friend of the podcast Dave Markel, an expert in trauma-informed interviews and a survivor of childhood and adult sexual assault. They discuss Dave's background and expertise, his personal experiences, and the importance of trauma-informed approaches. They explore the impact of trauma on interpersonal relationships and the challenges faced in implementing trauma-informed practices. Dave explains the neuroscience behind memory and trauma and recommends resources for further understanding. The conversation highlights the need for education and training to improve the response to sexual assault and support survivors in their healing journey. In this conversation, Jan Broberg and Dave Markel discuss the importance of telling the aftermath stories of sexual assault survivors. They explore the idea of creating a television show that focuses on the long-lasting impact of sexual assault and the different forms of grooming. They emphasize the need to start by believing survivors and the detrimental effects of blaming and disbelieving them. They also touch on the healing power of telling one's story and seeking support. In conclusion, they discuss the dangers of online relationships and how important it is to be skeptical until given proof of who you’re communicating with.

Today, we are thrilled to have Lynn Meyer back on our show to discuss her workbook 'No More Excuses: Let’s Heal For Real' and her journey of healing from childhood sexual abuse. Jan has been using Lynn’s workbook as a tool for healing in her Thrivivor community and has found it immensely beneficial. In this conversation, Jan and Lynn discuss various chapters in the workbook, including ‘Silent No More’ and ‘Pain to Power’. They explore moving forward and healing without an apology, emphasizing the importance of reminding survivors that it’s not their fault. Lynn also shares insights into the healing retreats she offers, which integrate various modalities such as nutrition, yoga, and massage.

She began working with women who had endured sexual abuse and domestic violence. Lynn has been coaching women of color for 5 years now, helping them to embrace their femininity, gain confidence, reinvigorate their relationships while rediscovering intimacy. Lynn is also a mother of 5 and wife whose purpose is to support women in and on their emotional healing so they can live the life they truly desire. Jan is joined by Edit B Kiss a holistic mentor, success habit coach, #1 best selling author, Humanitarian Award winner and international speaker. She works with clients on releasing long-lasting pains, blockages, ancestor defects and emotional traumas so they could live fulfilled and joyful lives. Edit originally was a petroleum engineer, working in the petroleum industry for 15 years before being a life-coach full time. During those years she trained to become a Reiki Master, a Sekhem Healer and a Karma Yogi Practitioner under the teaching of Karma Guru Sumant Kaul; strengthened her extra senses; and worked on several family constellation therapies. She learned life-coaching from the Satori Prime brothers (who base their work on Landmark approaches) and was trained by Bob Proctor, who is known for his appearance as a featured expert in the movie, The Secret. Edit came to this work after years of suffering silently with panic attacks and realized that she needed a new approach to healing. She began her journey when she visited a Reiki Master and discovered that this was her path in life and trained to become a full time Holistic Mentor. Edit stresses the need to take time for meditation, mindfulness, and other self-care practices. Healing is a personal responsibility.

Our Purpose
Trauma Interrupted with Jan Broberg exists to change the way trauma is understood, discussed, and healed. It is the primary public-facing voice of the…
Why It Matters?
Trauma narratives are often fragmented, sensationalized, or oversimplified. Survivors are either ignored or reduced to their worst moments. Trauma Interrupted reframes trauma as a human experience, not an identity, and recovery as a collective responsibility, not an individual burden.
The podcast is not just storytelling, it is movement-building media.
