Amy Duggar King, Jim Bob Duggar's niece and author of Holy Disruptor, addresses the situation facing Kendra Duggar — the twenty-seven-year-old wife of Joseph Duggar who now faces her own criminal charges alongside her husband's pending case in Florida.
Joseph Duggar, thirty-one, was arrested March 18 and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under twelve, according to the Bay County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit. He posted a $600,000 bond on March 31 and has pleaded not guilty. Both Joseph and Kendra were charged in Arkansas with four counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment after investigators reportedly found locks on the outside of their children's bedroom doors.
According to jail recordings and correspondence obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests, Kendra reportedly lost custody of their four children — Garrett, Addison, Brooklyn, and Justus — following the arrests. On a recorded jailhouse call, she told Joseph her children are her primary concern. She also retained her own attorney separately from Joseph's legal representation.
Amy joins retired FBI Behavioral Analysis Program Chief Robin Dreeke to discuss the dynamics of coercive family systems. Amy describes the alleged retaliation she experienced when she separated from the Duggar family and provides her perspective on Kendra's situation — specifically that Kendra, unlike many women in the Duggar orbit, has a family of origin that exists entirely apart from the Duggar and IBLP structures. Her father, Paul Caldwell, is a Baptist pastor in Arkansas.
Amy addresses Kendra directly, drawing on her own experience to describe what the process of leaving a controlling family system entails and what she says Kendra should be prepared for.

Years after a jury convicted Lucy Letby of murdering seven babies, some of those children's death certificates still officially list the cause of death as natural or unknown. The Cheshire Coroner's Court has opened formal inquests into five of the deaths. Full hearings are provisionally scheduled for September 2026, pending the outcome of the Thirlwall Inquiry. The families are still fighting for a piece of paper that reflects what a jury already decided happened to their children.
That single fact tells you everything about the pace and complexity of the legal reckoning surrounding this case. The Thirlwall Inquiry has concluded its evidence phase and is preparing a final report for publication after Easter 2026. Three former senior hospital leaders were arrested in June 2025 on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. The Criminal Cases Review Commission is examining whether Letby's convictions are safe. And the inquiry itself is built on a structural paradox: it assumes Letby is guilty while another legal body is actively investigating whether she should have been convicted.
The families are caught between a legal system that has rendered its verdict and a scientific community that increasingly questions the evidence behind it. Some want the focus on institutional accountability. Others want to know whether the truth they have been given is the complete one.
This is the final episode of our five-part series. The system that failed. The families that were failed. And the question of whether the truth has finally been told, or whether the most important chapter is still being written.

The person accused of killing Anna Kepner aboard a Carnival cruise ship just pleaded not guilty in federal court — and he didn’t even show up to say it. His attorney filed a one-page document while the sixteen-year-old stayed home, wearing a GPS ankle monitor, living with a relative, and recently cleared to work at his biological father’s landscaping business.
That’s the reality of this case right now.Anna Kepner was eighteen years old. She was found dead under a bed aboard the Carnival Horizon — wrapped in a blanket, concealed beneath life jackets — during what was supposed to be a family bonding cruise.
The medical examiner ruled it a homicide by mechanical asphyxiation. Bruising on her neck was consistent with an arm held across it. Her fourteen-year-old brother reportedly heard yelling and violent sounds from the locked cabin the night before her body was found.
Ship surveillance reportedly shows one person entering and exiting that stateroom. The accused — Anna’s stepbrother, Timothy Hudson — faces first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse charges in federal court. He requested adult prosecution himself. Prosecutors have turned over the full evidence file, including the autopsy, body cam footage, and a cellphone data extraction from a phone identified only as “C.K.” And they estimate this trial would take seven days.
Meanwhile, the defense is fighting to keep him free and asking for the same judge who released him in February to decide the detention question again. Anna’s father is calling for an orange jumpsuit. The ex-boyfriend’s family says they tried to warn people about this kid before the cruise. And the family that was supposed to come together on that ship has fractured in every direction.
The not guilty plea is in. The evidence is exchanged. The detention fight is pending. And accountability is still just a word on a court docket.

Warren Jeffs will die behind bars. The FLDS he built is hemorrhaging members. Short Creek—the community he sealed off from the world—now has soccer games, bars, and a winery. But the story is not over. From a Texas prison cell, Jeffs continues issuing edicts. A hardened core of followers—scattered across multiple states—still considers him their prophet. Reports suggest plural marriage may be restarting in hidden locations.
The final episode of the Hidden Killers five-part FLDS series covers the financial reckoning: a $152 million judgment, a $12 million food stamp fraud case, and Elissa Wall’s years-long pursuit of hidden assets through shell companies. We cover the Bateman connection—how the FLDS vacuum produced another self-declared prophet who was arrested on federal charges and died in custody. And we cover the people rebuilding—the Lost Boys reclaiming the community that expelled them, the survivors who testified, and the organizations providing resources to those still trying to leave.
For the true crime community, this is the question that refuses to close: the man is in prison, the money is hidden, the community is scattered, and the faithful are still waiting for their prophet to come home. Is it over? The evidence says not yet.

On today's True Crime Today, Eric Faddis takes us inside the David Anthony Burke felony complaint. Three special circumstances. A continuous sexual abuse charge that defines the witness-murder theory. And a defense team using very precise legal language Eric says tells you exactly where this trial is headed.
We hit the financial-gain theory and whether protecting income you already have fits that statute, the complaint-versus-indictment question after the grand jury failed to indict, the discovery battle over the forty-plus terabytes of evidence, the unsealed autopsy, and the difference between saying "he didn't do it" and saying "he was not the cause of her death."
If you have read the headlines and want the courtroom read from a trial attorney who has handled cases of this magnitude, this is the episode.

Anna Marie Kepner, eighteen, a senior at Temple Christian School in Titusville, Florida, was found dead on November 7, 2025, inside a cabin she shared with her stepbrother and half-brother aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship during a family vacation. Her body was reportedly concealed under a bed, wrapped in a blanket, and covered with life jackets. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be mechanical asphyxiation.
Her sixteen-year-old stepbrother has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse. He has entered a plea of not guilty. The case falls under federal jurisdiction because the death occurred in international waters, with the FBI leading the investigation. If convicted, the accused faces a maximum sentence of life in federal prison. The death penalty is not available due to the defendant's age.
The accused was initially charged as a juvenile in February 2026. The case was transferred to adult court on April 10, with defense counsel not objecting to the transfer. He was released to the custody of a relative under GPS monitoring, with conditions including a prohibition on being unsupervised with anyone under eighteen. The U.S. Attorney's Office has since moved to revoke pretrial release, arguing the defendant poses a danger.
Defense attorney and former felony prosecutor Eric Faddis provides analysis of the evidentiary posture and procedural trajectory of this case. He examines the reported surveillance evidence showing only the accused entering and exiting the stateroom during the relevant window, the defense decision not to contest the transfer to adult prosecution, and the potential scope of a defense built around the accused's documented medication history — specifically, testimony that the accused missed prescribed insomnia medication for two consecutive nights aboard the ship. Faddis also addresses the unusual family dynamics: the victim's father, who is the accused's stepfather, has publicly stated that justice must be served.

On today's True Crime Today, trial attorney Eric Faddis joins us to break down the legal architecture of the David Anthony Burke case. Prosecutors have reportedly said Burke had help disposing of Celeste Rivas Hernandez's remains. So far he is the only name on the complaint.
Eric, a former felony prosecutor, walks us through the cooperation language around Neo Langston, the grand jury testimony by Robert Morgenroth, the multi-client conflict issues with attorney Evan Jenness appearing to represent multiple witnesses, and the Burke family's Texas subpoena fight that went all the way to a state appeals court. He addresses the question everyone is asking: does cooperation actually buy immunity in a case carrying death-penalty-eligible special circumstances, or is there still a clock ticking on the people in Burke's orbit?
We also get into the defense's potential play to attack compelled grand jury testimony at trial and whether the overlapping representation itself creates a credibility problem the defense can exploit.
If you have been following this case through headlines and want the legal read from someone who has sat on both sides of a courtroom, start here.

Amy Duggar King, Jim Bob Duggar's niece and author of the memoir Holy Disruptor, provides detailed testimony about what she describes as a systematic pattern of information suppression within the Duggar family and its associated religious communities.
Amy characterizes Jim Bob Duggar as someone who controls information with the same precision others apply to financial management — determining who knows what, when, and how much. She describes an ecosystem where disclosures of abuse were allegedly handled through church counseling and internal family channels rather than through law enforcement.
The public record includes Josh Duggar's federal conviction and twelve-and-a-half-year sentence for possession of child abuse material. Joseph Duggar was arrested March 18 on a charge of lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under twelve, according to the Bay County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit. The alleged victim, now fourteen, told investigators the abuse occurred during a family trip to Panama City Beach when she was nine. Both Joseph and Kendra Duggar were subsequently charged with four counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment in Arkansas.
Amy joins retired FBI Behavioral Analysis Program Chief Robin Dreeke to examine the behavioral indicators of institutional secrecy, the mechanics of how families inside authoritarian religious structures allegedly manage abuse disclosures, and whether the cases that have become public represent the full scope of what has occurred within these communities.
Amy does not name any individuals who have not been charged. She addresses the structural patterns she says she witnessed firsthand and the behavioral dynamics that enable secrecy to persist across generations.
