Twilight Histories

You are part of a mercenary group called Black Knight Contracting in Urumqi, China. Your team has been dispatched on a mission out into the mountains. All you know about your mission is that it's at a placed called the Twilight Histories and it should only take 24 hours.

You quickly learn this is not a simple flushing mission. You're about to be sent to a different world in the multiverse, one where the only civilization that rose was the Ojibwe in Northern Canada. And the man who has hired you wants to conquer them.

You will travel through space and time to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico in its deep prehistoric past, some 12,000 years ago near the end of the Ice Age. In this universe, an ancient civilization unknown to our history has risen from the jungles.

But there is no time for you to explore this curiosity. World splitters from some hostile universe have invaded this land, killing the inhabitants as they drill for oil. You have decided to assist the ancient ancestors of the Olmec, Inca and Maya. Let’s find out if you survive.

WWII has ended and the allies are moving into areas of the Pacific that had once been controlled by the Japanese. You are patrolling the Java Sea for the Dutch. You discover a Japanese warship. When you hail it, no one answers. It floats, eerily on the water. You must board this ship and find out why the crew is missing...

This is a lovecraftian horror adventure that casts YOU as the hero. Will you survive?

A wealthy couple died leaving their young daughter orphaned. Lillith has no family to raise her. In their will, the couple tasked the Twilight Histories with finding her a good home in an alternate universe, one with family who can care for her.

A world has been discovered where she has such a family. But it is not a gentle world. In the 21st century, a solar flare wiped out all electronics on Earth and the United States crumbled. It is currently still in the early stages of rebuilding.

Your mission is to journey to this world and find Lillith a good home.

This is a tribute to Ancient Rome Refocused and a story about how the Twilight Histories came into being. You'll hear stories from the earliest days of history podcasting (2007-2010), and you'll learn how the Twilight Histories was formed from those early works of podcasting history... Hardcore History, The History of Rome and of course... Ancient Rome Refocused.

How do you create a podcast? How do you find your unique podcasting voice? How can you overcome those early failures? You'll discover the podcasting journey of Jordan Harbour from the Twilight Histories.

You'll also hear Episode 2 from Ancient Rome Refocused called Time Travel is Easy, History is Hard. This was the seminal work that led to the final form used by the Twilight Histories and it is an incredible honour to show it to you. It has long since been taken down. Thank you Rob Cain for allowing us to include it here.

The Earth is flung into deep space. Humanity must survive on a planet that's slowly freezing.

YOU are a scavenger exploring the surface for anything useful. But your batteries are empty and there is no sun for your solar panels. You are stuck, adrift on a sea of boiling oxygen on a world that's hurtling out of the solar system.

This is a campaign style audio fiction that casts YOU as the hero. So step on the platform and let’s get you on your way…

Frozen Earth was inspired by Chinese science fiction, and in particular the short story Wandering Earth by Cixin Liu. He also wrote Three Body Problem, which is excellent and has been turned into a fantastic audiobook book series.

Frozen Earth was written and produced by Jordan Harbour.
