Good morning Horners! It the day after your Minnesota Vikings took on the Tennessee Titans at US Bank. What did we see? We saw a close game where the Vikings had the lead for a good portion of the game. Then at the end, we saw “chaos” as HC Mike Zimmer said after the game. Did we see improvement? Dalvin Cook set a record for total rushing yards with 181. Justin Jefferson had an absolute breakout game with a 175 yards on 7 receptions and his first TD. What a catch by Kyle Rudolph too! It was a thing of beauty. After a slow start, the offense looked good, up until that last drive to win it. Kirk Cousins was hitting his extremes from dimes to Jefferson and Adam Thielen to not “looking at the rush.” Huh? 

 The defense even showed life with a pick by Harrison Smith and stopping the Titans short of the end zone time after time. Better play came from Yannick Ngakoue and Ifeadi Odenigbo. Ngakoue even had another forced fumble. On a squad decimated by injuries and having backups playing in many spots, it was an encouraging showing, but the result ultimately was the same. The Vikings now start the season at 0-3, and as Flipmazzi said, that only gives them a 6% chance to make the playoffs. Like Drew, do you see that happening or not? What did you like from the game and what drove you crazy?

 It still looks like Vikings fans are in for a a long season. Where do you see the first win? Next week in Houston against the Texans?

Good morning Horners! Vikings vs Titans is scheduled to take place at US Bank Stadium tomorrow and it will provide an opportunity for our favorite team to have a gut check. Yes, after an 0-2 start being thoroughly beaten by the Packers and the Colts, the mighty purple under Mike Zimmer and Gary Kubiak have to put a patched together team on the field to show us fans something. Can the team get a win? Well, anything is possible on any given Sunday, as the old saying goes.

Tennessee with roll in under the leadership of Mike Vrabel who had the Titans just a Patrick Mahomes away from the Super Bowl last season. Ryan Tannehill is coming off the best season of his career has the likes of Jonnu Smith, one of the league’s better tight ends, and his TE2, former Viking MyCole Pruitt and wide receivers like A.J. Brown, Adam Humphries and Corey Davis to catch his passes, but the biggest threat being Derrick Henry and his expected 100+ yard game. It will be a tough test for a depleted and young defense of the Vikings.

 Injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball are stacking up with the latest being Mike Hughes and new neck issue. The cornerbacks are still missing Cameron Dantzler and his rib injury. Expect Kris Boyd to get a good chunk of snaps unless his ‘questionable’ hamstring keeps him out too. The linebacker corps is quickly being depleted too. Since Anthony Barr is on season ending IR and rookie Troy Dye has been ruled out with a foot injury, the Vikings signed Todd Davis, and the 28 year old linebacker that led the Broncos in tackles the last couple of years. He was released early this year by them due to a calf injury and a little cap savings. Hopefully he can spin up soon.

Good morning Horners! Starting a new feature we’re calling the GMG Morning Quickie because who doesn’t love a morning quickie? LOL. This one focuses on short discussions on your Minnesota Vikings and relevant topics. Today’s topic covers the questions of “Is Kirk Cousins bad?” Drew, Flip and Dave dive into the topic after his worst game ever. What do you say? Is he?

 What if Gary Kubiak says, “I don’t have the QB to run this offense” and then features more of Dalvin Cook because of it? Is that an excuse? Is there a disconnect between Cousins and Kubiak? Drew is looking for a set of “onions.” He’d love to see that play maker’s switch where the leader of the team steps up like Russell Wilson or Patrick Mahomes when things aren’t going as planned. Is this turning into a Les Steckle type season?
