Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements. Monday is a LATE-START DAY. Students must be at school by 10 am.
Hola Comunidad VAPA! Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios. El lunes es un día de inicio tardío. Los estudiantes deben estar en la escuela a las diez de la mañana.
Congratulations to students who have been maintained excellent attendance this year so far, and their famlies who are supporting them. All students who missed 2 or less days this year so far have met our district goal of 96% or better attendance. Attendance is both a school goal and a district goal this year.
Congrats to all of our Fall sports who are ending their regular seasons and many proceeding to play-offs including Girls Tennis, Cross Country, Girls Golf, and Football. Join us for our first football game in play-offs this Friday at Legacy against Lincoln High School. The Winter Sports season starts soon.
We will have a Halloween Dance this Wednesday from 4-6 pm in our Legacy MPR. Tickets will be sold this week. We will also be having a Dia de los Muertos event at lunch on Nov. 1 this week. Please join us for our Ribbon-Cutting Event for the new Legacy High School Complex Playing Fields this Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 am to 1 pm.
Please note the following regarding dress code guidelines, with Halloween costumes in mind:
For safety and health regulations, shoes must conform to the Dress Code standards.
No item of clothing may be worn and no prop may be brought to school if it does any of the following:
Costumes may not be construed as demeaning to any person or groups based on age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or to any individual staff or student at the school contains discriminatory, profane, vulgar, sexually suggestive, obscene, threatening, or libelous language;
Costumes may not advertise/promote consumption of alcohol, tobacco, drugs/drug paraphernalia, or use of weapons;
Costumes may not represent or be associated with gang membership; or cause a significant disruption or distraction to the school program.
Additionally, for Halloween
Masks may not completely obscure the identity of the student;
Masks may be worn during specific school spirit activity at lunch, provided that safety is not hindered;
Costumes may NOT include props such as real, replica, or fake guns/ knives/other weapons/dangerous objects, or any item that is not allowed on campus.
No costume can be worn that is unsafe or that may create a safety hazard.
We are now in the last two weeks of the Zone of Choice Enrollment Period with the first application window closing November 8, 2018. If you know of any families of 8th grade students, especially those that live in the South Gate and Bell area, please refer them to us so we can let them know all we have to offer. We will continue to offer school tours every Wednesday and Friday as requested.
