  • Ain't That "Just Like God"

God is good. And the way you can really understand and appreciate how good God is, is to have a relationship with God. And in order for that relationship to take place, that means you've had to go through some things. Because you probably had to call on God for a few things. Not understanding why you had to go through what you're going through, but understanding, you know you got to get through it.

I was taking a listen to this track by Evvie McKinney. It's entitled, "Just Like God" and in it, she says, "I see blessings falling out of nowhere. And I'm thinking, ain't that just like God." Hey! When you know, you know. You're sometimes in situations when you cannot see, but somehow a way is made. And oftentimes we refer to that as "grace" or as some may say "favor."

And we understand how blessed we are because God's word is constant. Evvie continues, "The world is changing, but your love holds me steady. And I'm thinking, ain't that just like God?" Ain't that just like God to show up and show out? Where the ground you may be standing on may be unsteady. When the winds seem to want to blow you over or perhaps the shadow seems too dark.

It's a "but God" kind of moment. It's a "but God" kind of day. We live in a "but God" kind of lifestyle. So the next time you're looking at something that face your way, remind yourself there's goodness on the other side of the rainbow and say, "Ain't that just like God?"

  • "All I Can Do Is Pray"

Prayer changes things. I understand that now. Thinking back how Mr. Harvey used to always say that when I was working at the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Prayer changes things. It's our connection. It's how we talk to God. Now, how you choose to communicate, that's up to you. Whether that's you closing your hands and your eyes. Whether that's you going for a walk, working out, meditating. Whatever it is that helps you get that close connection. Sustain it.

I was taking a listen to this track entitled "Pray" by Koryn Hawthorne and she says, "The Lord hears you when you pray. And He responds when you pray. Lord, all I can do is pray." Are you praying? What is it that you're seeking? Now, don't be hard on yourself because you experiencing some things that you didn't think you had to go through.

You understand that that's how you get your stronger connection with God. Koryn goes on to say, "Things I had to go through so I could better know you. Because when I know I can't do it on my own, you're the one that I am leaning on. All things work together for the good. And if you said it, then it must be true.”

See, there's confidence in knowing. And there's a peace in understanding how everything is working for your greater good. Now you're praying. But I have to ask you, do you trust and believe the word of God? Have faith in knowing. God is not slow to keep His promise. Just pray.

  • Get "Knuck If You Buck"

I'm here to remind you that you are going to have to knuck and buck at your dreams. Knuck and buck at the haters. Knuck and buck at the naysayers. Knuck and buck at anything that doesn't serve in the betterment of you. What do I mean by that? Well, let's be honest. Life isn't a cakewalk, but it wasn't supposed to be.No one said it was going to be easy, but it was guaranteed that it would be worth it. Now, oftentimes you have obstacles or trials and tribulations that come our way and we isolate ourselves. We hide in the corner or even sometimes we run away. Well, it's time to change the narrative. It's time to show up to show out.

And it requires you to get knuck if you want to get buck. It reminds me of this track from way back, way back when. It's from Crime Mob featuring in Lil Scrappy entitled, "Knuck If You Buck" and in it the rapper Princess says, "Yeah, we knucking and bucking and ready to fight. Bet you I'ma throw them thangs, so haters best to think twice." Is you ready?

Remember, it's about the size of the fight in the dog and not the size of the dog in the fight. How bad do you want it? What are you to do if that hater is you? Hmm? You're going to have to stand up. Stand up so that you can show out because you know your truth and you know what it is you want. And you know what you don't want, because you are not happy. So get after it. Go after it and get knuck so you can get buck.

  • Gratitude Is Everything

Gratitude is everything. The more grateful you are, the more things you have to be grateful for. What are you grateful for? What lesson are you counting as a blessing? Remember, everything is happening for your greater good. Don't get frustrated and don't get hard on yourself. Some things take time. Yes, that means you have to have patience. Yes, that means you have to fail your way to success. Yes, that means you figuring it out. But that also means you showing grace with yourself and being grateful with how far you've come.

I was taking a listen to DJ Khaled and his track "Grateful" featuring Vory and in it he says, "Let the blessings glow. Said I'm grateful for not anything, but everything. Every loss I had to take, I took it on the chin." Catch it. Everything is happening for your greater good.

He continues on, "Let the blessings glow. Right to my soul." You better go and glow with them blessings, alright? Gratitude is everything. The more grateful you are, the more things you have to be grateful for.

  • I Will "Stand Up"

In life, you have to choose to be great. It's not something that is by happenstance. You have to declare. And I'm reminded of that when I was listening to this track by Jazmine Sullivan. It's entitled "Stand Up" and it's from the soundtrack from the film "Till" about Emmett Till. And I want you to declare that, "I will stand up."

See, half the time we don't stand up because we are afraid of who we are. But I implore you to show up as you are, how you are right now. In it she says, "I used to hide from the light. I was coward, too ashamed to be me. So afraid of my power 'til one day Mama said, I got something to offer. Just look in the mirror to see it. Now it's up to you to believe it." Do you believe who you say you are?

She goes on to say, "What is your reason? What is you fighting for? I see you searching. Do you believe in yourself? Because ain't nobody else who can do what you do. Someone's counting on you." Have you ever thought that that person could be you? To fill out all of your dreams, all of your aspirations and let alone you can inspire somebody else to be great. So I want you to declare, "I will stand up."

  • I'm Onto "Better Thangs"

I'm onto better things. I'm not looking at yesterday. I'm not looking at these past failed relationships. Things that didn't make me feel good. I'm not replaying those stories in my mind because I want to be better and to do better and to do that, that means I have to move forward. And let me ask you something. If I keep trying to play the old story behind me, how can I move forward onto the "better thing?” I'm just asking.

And, you know, I really thought about this as I was listening to this track by Ciara and Summer Walker and it's entitled, "Better Thangs." They go on to say, "Better things, better things. Ain't got time for petty things, I'm on better things." I don't know what you're entertaining. What you are spending your time with, but if it doesn't serve you, it doesn't deserve you.

You have to realize the things that you are placing in your life. Is it taking you to the next level on where you want to go? Is it equipping you to be all that you can be? That's why they say self-love is the best love. And in it they continue, "I've been busy loving me. Protecting all my energy." Show yourself the love that you deserve and realize that you deserve the best. You deserve better things. In fact, declare it with me, "I'm onto better things!”

  • "You Got It" Girl

Look, you got it girl. You got what it takes. I don't care what anybody else has to say. You got what it is you got right here, right now. And I just need you to show up. Now, in order for you to truly amplify all that you are, how you are right now, is that you are going to have to love on yourself.

Love yourself enough to change, to only amplify who it is that you say you are. I was taking a listen to this track by Vedo, rest in peace Young Dolph and Money Man. It's entitled "You Got It." And in it they say, "It's time to boss up. Fix your credit, girl get at it. Get your bag up. Hit that gym and get back fine. Go get that degree, go girl. Focus on me. Unlock potential that you didn't know you had in you." Yeah we're unlocking potential and you're going to have to change some stuff up!

They continue on, "It's time to mix it up. Get your glow girl. I know that you're going to get it. You got so much. Don't let nobody tell you that's over. I want you to know that girl you got it." You got what it takes. I need you to believe in yourself. See, all these aspirations that you have, it stemmed from somewhere. And it's right there in your heart. Follow your passion. Follow your heart. You got it, girl.
