Political Neutrality and Participation

The appearance of political neutrality for the church is really important because they don't wanna lose tax exempt status for the church or ensign peak advisors

Henry Eyring turns 90!

Nemo vs Eyring

Henry Eyring is NOT an apostle!?

Feature Article

Why as a gay man I stand for traditional marriage

Skyler Sorenson

Skyler Sorenson book

Sky Tweets

Wait, he wants Obergefell v. Hodges to be overturned?

What about the Respect for Marriage Act?

The most hated man on the internet

Who?

Book of Evan responds

Cultch responds

White cat prophecy responds

thoughtful Saint response

How to celebrate gay pride month
Sky, I can’t say it will be easy, it not that it will be worth it

Sky argues that the ‘gospel’ helps LGBTQ latter day saints avoid suicide

But in Utah gay teen suicide is higher than the national average

Skyler on Midnight Mormons made the incredible claim that the safest place in the world, for members of the LGBTQ community is in the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints

I spent an hour in the chat trying to get my question out, does Sky want to see the legalization of gay marriage overturned in the US, but Cardon never asked him

The biggest take away from the hour long live stream is that Skyler is really really happy, and all the haters out there don’t know his heart

The big thing here is what is good for society as a whole, there are always exceptions to any paradigm, someone could find great happiness in what most of us would be considered a very abusive relationship, likewise, someone in a very stable family, could be incredibly unhappy,

the question that we should wrestle with:

what is good for society as a whole?

are mixed orientation marriages and/or lifelong celibacy healthy?

Anecdote time: My older brother’s struggle being gay in the church

Leaders of the Church weigh in with heaven sent guidance

Bednar there are no homosexual members of the church

Perhaps President Hinckley can help clear this all up

0:14 (‘to bless their lives’)

I guess that answers the questions to why senior leaders of the church, so rarely give media interviews

Conclusions

Fundamentally, why is the deseretnews releasing an editorial in which a member at least partially advocates for a position that the church does not?

New episodes live on YouTube Sundays at 9:30pm EST

President Oaks Urges Young Adults to ‘Be of Good Cheer’ in Their Challenges
Nothing inspires today's young adults these days like a couple of white multi-millionaire nonagenarians
Imagine getting YSA advice from DHO who was born in 1932
Clip to discuss
Legendary letter
Why no name?

Is she not criticizing leaders of the church? And would that not be wrong?

Changing genders every other day
Of all the letters that oaks gets,
The letter seems to decry the choosing of one’s pronouns, however, the church has updated its trans policy to allow such behavior
Treating others with kindness

Treating others who are different from us with kindness
Electroshock therapy
Oaks signed off on it, or at least his signature was affixed to the study’s approval
I’ve been on tons of doctoral committees
Oaks declined to comment on the discrepancy between his memory and the research, church spokesman Doug Andersen said”
According to Nemo, Pres. Oaks also declined to discuss the apparent discrepancy when confronted, instead citing a fairlds website which supposedly exonerated him

Stop delaying marriage and start having kids
Effects of having children early
Infant mortality increases when the period between births shortens
Continuing to give births at a higher age also carries additional health risks for both mother
and child
Kristen Oaks is Dallins second wife, she was unmarried previous to marrying him at age 53, she has never had children (nor has Wendy Nelson btw)
Another case of do what I say, not do what I do
Kind of like DHO urging young LDS kids to go on missions when he never went on one himself

Story about my daughter, am I selfish?
My personal experience of marrying young and having kids

It probably all comes down to this: there are well documented psychological, sociological, physical, and economical downsides to getting married early and having lots of kids, but there are positive church outcomes in activity rates, tithing receipts, and retention rates. Hence, Oaks views giving potentially damaging advice like this is ok so long as the needs of the church come first. It’s a philosophy called doctrine over self.

What is best for you spiritually, socially, or physically must be subverted for the betterment of the collective whole. That is the very definition of a high demand religion.

Based on the title of Melville's most famous book, the whale’s size, and Joseph’s impressive harem, they are both obviously compensating for something
One made up fantastic American tales that only deluded followers actually believe happened, the other…nevermind
One is the quintessential great American novelist, the other is the quintessential great American philanderer
Melville actually wrote his famous books, whereas Joseph Smith technically plagiarized from Mormon, Moses, and Abraham
One wrote books that touched the heart of the common man, the other touched a lot of women #tendermercies
