This is one reason it's so easy for narcissists to be so cruel and hurtful to you. Narcissists are unbelievably mean sometimes, and it's hard to understand why. As it turns out, it could all be related to a Freudian theory called object constancy.

In this video, I'll fill you in on the theory and explain why it tends to explain very specifically why narcissists are so cruel. People with NPD and other cluster b disorders are known to struggle with object constancy and it's something that may be attributed to their own childhoods - likely involving invalidation very early in life.
