He argues that while selfishness may be our natural tendency, making the intentional choice to uplift people around you takes conscious effort, transforms you into someone others cherish being with, and is ultimately the key to developing the charisma irresistible leaders share. Though helping others doesn't always yield immediate personal returns, Maxwell stresses that constantly cultivating goodwill inevitably compounds over time into an abundant harvest you can't help but reap.
