Hurt to Healing

Why we still fail to recognise PTSD with Radhika Sanghani

Listen Later

I am honoured to be joined for today's episode by the award winning journalist and author Radhika Sanghani. Radhika regularly writes on women's issues and lifestyle topics for titles such as The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Guardian, the BBC, Grazia and Elle Magazine. Radhika also gave an extremely successful TEDx talk called How to Love Yourself and is now a body positive campaigner. Her third novel, which was published at the start of 2022, is called 30 Things I Love About Myself and is loosely based on her own self-love journey.

You might be sitting there thinking Radhika has had it easy and has a career that you can't help but be jealous of. But the truth is, Radhika has had her own struggles. In her twenties, she was diagnosed with PTSD as a result of a coach crash that she survived in Thailand. She wrote an article about how she struggled to come to terms with her own situation because of the way society as a whole views this mental health disorder as a result of her own experience. She is working towards redefining our definition of PTSD and is working towards crushing the stigma that still surrounds it.
