Last Sunday, the controversial Catalan referendum for an independent Catalonia led to a harsh confrontation between the Catalans and the Spanish police. However, the violence inflicted did not prevent the Catalans from voting. Over 90 percent of them voted for independence. The regular working week has started again and many Catalans are on strike to protest against the Spanish authorities.
