You work with people, but how much of your daily tasks have to do with understanding those people in a way that will change the way you work together? As a change agent focused on restoring humanity into both our work and workplaces, Anna Oakes takes on the question of bringing your attention back to the people, no matter what your job title is. ICYMI – Your Post-Episode Homework: Ask yourself these three questions: 1) Am I trying new things and are we giving people permission to do that at work? 2) Are we investing in leadership? 3) Are our benefits in line with our company values? Answer these three questions, send it to someone on your team, and have a conversation around this episode. Connect with Anna Oakes:

If you’re not taking all of the candy in the candy jar, you’re exactly where you need to be. Anna Oaks is a change agent focused on restoring humanity into both our work and workplaces. Raised by hippies, she’s always had a natural inclination to leave the world better than we found it. She brought this proclivity from her childhood into over two decades of work in small, mid-sized, and large companies focusing on strategy, growth, and culture. She toggles between being both an intrapreneur, or working directly in companies, and also an entrepreneur, or working on solutions to make work better through her own company, Oaks Co. In this episode, Erin and Anna discuss what it means to be an intrapreneur vs. an entrepreneur (and why you’re probably already doing both), why intention overrules your opinion, and how doing what is asked of you and nothing more is saving our workplace culture. ICYMI – Your Post-Episode Homework: Think about your current role. Maybe you're an intrapreneur listening to this show and you don't recognize that you are an intrapreneur. Or maybe you're an entrepreneur listening to this show and you lead a team of people and that team might include some intrapreneurs. How can you get more curious? Is this the season of your life that you are going to do that? Maybe it's not your season and you want to leave the candy on the table. But if this season feels like you can dream and you want to get curious, I want you to jot down a list of three ways that you're going to get more curious at your current role. Remember the last time you were sucked into a rabbit hole? Maybe it was this morning when you checked your phone right after you heard your alarm go off. Perhaps it was during your lunch break scrolling through Tik Toks detailing some of Robert Pattinson’s best (and worst) outfits. Or maybe it was during your one free hour at night where no one’s asking you to do anything. These rabbit holes are everywhere, every day, in every moment. In today’s episode, Erin shares her #1 hack for jumping over the rabbit holes and back into real life. ICYMI – Your Post-Episode Homework: Challenge yourself to completely unplug from your nemeses this weekend. When you think about reconnecting to your inner child, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s finger painting or playing hopscotch. Maybe it’s taking some time to go outside. Maybe it’s everything that seems, for a lack of better words, like a silly waste of time. Since inner child work may not be on the top of your to-do list or leadership-building agenda, Erin is here today to explore the idea that reconnecting to your inner child—and taking it seriously—may be the missing piece to enhancing your creativity, attracting everything that’s meant for you, and viewing the world with fresh eyes so the world can view you with fresh eyes, too. This episode is for you if you know something needs to change but you’re not sure what. Inner child = reconnected. ICYMI – Your Post-Episode Homework: Put the five steps to connecting back to your inner child into action and let us know how it goes at [email protected]. Show Links:

If you read the title and you’re asking yourself, “How do you make the leap from personality test to culture of belonging?” We have the answer for you. In the final episode of this three-part series, join Erin and Enneagram expert Sandhya Sudhakar as they examine how to use the Enneagram to build a culture where all are seen, heard, and valued in your organization. ICYMI – Your Post-Episode Homework: Take the Enneagram test here. Understand your number, take a look at the results, put some intention into understanding this for you, and give yourself a safe space to do this. Then, encourage your team to take this assessment. You don't need to understand every single nuance of their Enneagram, but get a high-level overview of their Enneagram number. This will help you as a leader to understand the motivations for the people that you serve. Show Links:

Sitting beside our excitement for something as interesting as the Enneagram test is also our doubt – how accurate can it be? How can we use the results in meaningful ways? In part two of this three-episode series, Erin and Enneagram expert Sandhya Sudhakar discuss the Enneagram’s biggest challenges and how to work with them, not against them, for yourself and your team. Listen to learn how to take you and your team’s Enneagram results and put internalization, action, and intention around them. ICYMI – Your Post-Episode Homework: Listen to part three of this series, Episode 170. It’s all about how the Enneagram can help us build a culture of belonging within our teams and organizations. I am such a Type 4. You’re definitely a Type 2. My inner-Type 3 is coming out to play. Maybe you know your Enneagram type or perhaps this is all new to you. No matter which boat you’re in, Erin and Enneagram expert Sandhya Sudhakar discuss how she first became interested in Enneagram, why taking a sabbatical was the best decision she could’ve made, and how Enneagram helps us to understand how our core motivations can help us develop as leaders. Sandhya Sudhakar created a company called Self at Work where she takes a trauma-informed, inclusive approach to leadership, development, and wellbeing in the professional sphere. Sandhya’s main goal is to help leaders build meaningful connections with themselves, their teams, and their work so they can achieve breakthrough business results without burning out their employees or themselves. If you are a leader who wants to understand yourself so that you can understand your teams on a deeper, meaningful, tangible level, then this three-part series is for you. ICYMI – Your Post-Episode Homework: Take the Enneagram test here to gain a deeper understanding of your core motivations. Show Links:
