In this episode of "Grace in the Chase," we journey with Brian Calvert through a series of unimaginable challenges. Brian faced the devastating loss of his home to a fire, which tragically claimed the lives of his three beloved dogs. As if that weren't enough, a severe deer hunting accident left him debilitated after a fall from a tree stand. Adding to these trials, Brian also faced the loss of his job. Amidst these hardships, Brian found solace and companionship in a Bluetick coonhound named Dixie, who has since become the most famous Bluetick in the world. Every coon hunter has a unique story, and Woody's journey is no exception. Typically, one might start with pleasure hunting, gradually getting introduced to the competitive side of coon hunting, eventually catching the competition bug. However, Woody's experience was quite the opposite. He was introduced to the world of competition hunting right from the start, thanks to a friendship with a World Champion dog owner. This introduction immersed him in the excitement and camaraderie of competitive hound hunting. Over time, Woody transitioned to focus solely on pleasure hunting, which is his current passion.

Woody is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he shares the story of his journey on "Grace in the Chase." Reflecting on the early 1990s, when the Professional Kennel Club (PKC) was at its peak, Woody fondly recalls the memorable hunts and the people who left a lasting impression on him. We hope you enjoy his tales as a backcountry pleasure coon hunter who values excellent dog work just as much as any World Champion competition coon hunter
