《小王子》是法国作家安东尼·德·圣·埃克苏佩里于1942年写成的著名儿童文学短篇小说。主人公是来自外星球的小王子。书中以一位飞行员作为故事叙述者，讲述了小王子从自己星球出发前往地球的过程中，所经历的各种历险。

这篇只有短短2万多字的“童话式”故事，却登顶“人类有史以来经典读物”书单，被誉为“每个人不可不读的心灵之书”，被译成300多种语言，在全世界拥有4亿多读者，阅读率仅次于《圣经》。

根据《小王子》，为你读英语美文团队制作了英文广播剧《寻找小王子》，首播于2016年，这是为你读英语美文的首部广播剧，也是至今难以逾越的巅峰之作。

潇雨是总导演，负责节目统筹和制作。Sally扮演小王子，黄茜扮演玫瑰，维安扮演狐狸，熊叔一人分饰多角：老年飞行员，国王，酒鬼，地理学家和旁白。永清扮演年轻飞行员，虚荣的人，商人和点灯人。

你听到的声音合在一起的，但其实是潇雨在湖南，Sally在广东, 维安在浙江，永清在北京, 熊叔在上海, 黄茜在西班牙分开录制的，最后由潇雨通过后期整合在一起。从开始策划到最后完成，这期节目用了3个月的时间。

也许你是迷失在各个星球的大人，是不是最爱慕虚荣，是不是忙得不知所以，是不是只为别人而活，是不是从不愿意看看现实的世界？

今天，再一次为你献上小王子。希望你，永远不会抛弃心里那个，最单纯的自己。


1.序言：飞行员关于童年的回忆

To Leon Werth
献给莱翁·维尔特，

I ask the indulgence of the children who may read this book for dedicating it to a grown-up. 
请孩子们原谅我把这本书献给了一个大人。

I have a serious reason: he is the best friend I have in the world. I have another reason: this grown-up understands everything, even books about children. I have a third reason: he lives in France where he is hungry and cold. He needs cheering up. If all these reasons are not enough, I will dedicate the book to the child from whom this grown-up grew. All grown-ups were once children-- although few of them remember it. 
我有一条正当的理由：这个大人是我在世界上最好的朋友。我另有一条理由：这个大人什么都懂；即使儿童读物也懂。我还有第三条理由；这个大人住在法国，忍冻挨饿。他很需要有人安慰。要是这些理由还不够充分，我就把这本书献给这个大人曾经做过的孩子。每人大人都是从做孩子开始的。（然而，记得这事的又有几个呢？）

2 飞行员认识小王子

Once when I was six years old, I saw a magnificent picture in a book, called True Stories from Nature, about the primeval forest. It was a picture of a boa constrictor in the act of swallowing an animal. 
当我还只有六岁的时候，在一本描写原始森林的名叫《真实的故事》的书中，看到了一副精彩的插画，画的是一条蟒蛇正在吞食一只大野兽。

I pondered deeply, then, over the adventures of the jungle. And after some work with a colored pencil I succeeded in making my first drawing. I showed my masterpiece to the grown-ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened them. But they answered:
我对丛林中的奇遇想得很多，于是，我也用彩色铅笔画出了我的第一副图画。　我把我的这副杰作拿给大人看，我问他们我的画是不是叫他们害怕。他们回答我说：

"Frighten? Why should anyone be frightened by a hat?"
“一顶帽子有什么可怕的？”

My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant! But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing: I drew the inside of the boa constrictor, so that the grown-ups could see it clearly.
我画的不是帽子，是一条巨蟒在消化着一头大象。于是我又把巨蟒肚子里的情况画了出来，以便让大人们能够看懂。这些大人总是需要解释。

Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.
这些大人们，靠他们自己什么也弄不懂，还得老是不断地给他们作解释。这真叫孩子们腻味。

So I lived my life alone, without anyone that I could really talk to, until I had an accident with my plane in the Desert of Sahara, six years ago. Something was broken in my engine. The first night, then, I went to sleep on the sand, a thousand miles from any human habitation. I was more isolated than a shipwrecked sailor on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Thus you can imagine my amazement, at sunrise, when I was awakened by an odd little voice.
我就这样孤独地生活着，没有一个能真正谈得来的人，一直到六年前在撒哈拉沙漠上发生了那次故障。我的发动机里有个东西损坏了。 第一天晚上我就睡在这远离人间烟火的大沙漠上。我比大海中伏在小木排上的遇难者还要孤独得多。而在第二天拂晓，当一个奇怪的小声音叫醒我的时候，你们可以想见我当时是多么吃惊。这小小的声音说道：

小王子：If you please-- draw me a sheep...

年轻的飞行员旁白：But I had never drawn a sheep. So I drew for him one of the two pictures I had drawn so often. It was that of the boa constrictor from the outside. And I was astounded to hear the little fellow greet it with.
因为我从来没有画过羊，我就给他重画我所仅仅会画的两副画中的那副闭着肚皮的巨蟒。

小王子：No, no, no! I do not want an elephant inside a boa constrictor. A boa constrictor is a very dangerous creature, and an elephant is very cumbersome. Where I live, everything is very small. What I need is a sheep. Draw me a sheep. 
不，不！我不要蟒蛇，它肚子里还有一头象。巨蟒这东西太危险，大象又太占地方。我住的地方非常小，我需要一只羊。给我画一只羊吧。

年轻的飞行员旁白：So then I made a drawing.
我就给他画了。

小王子：No. This sheep is already very sickly. Make me another. 
我不要，这只羊已经病得很重了。给我重新画一只。

年轻的飞行员旁白：So I made another drawing.
于是我又重新画了一张。

小王子：You see yourself, that this is not a sheep. This is a ram. It has horns. 
你看，你画的不是小羊，是头公羊，还有犄角呢。

年轻的飞行员旁白：So then I did my drawing over once more. But it was rejected too, just like the others.
于是我又重新画了一张。这副画同前几副一样又被拒绝了。

小王子：This one is too old. I want a sheep that will live a long time.
这一只太老了。我想要一只能活得长的羊。

年轻的飞行员旁白：By this time my patience was exhausted, because I was in a hurry to start taking my engine apart. So I tossed off this drawing. And I threw out an explanation with it. 
我不耐烦了。因为我急于要检修发动机，于是就草草画了这张画，并且匆匆地对他说道：

年轻的飞行员：This is only his box. The sheep you asked for is inside.
这是一只箱子，你要的羊就在里面。

小王子：That is exactly the way I wanted it! Do you think that this sheep will have to have a great deal of grass?
这正是我想要的，……你说这只羊需要很多草吗？

年轻的飞行员：Why?
为什么问这个呢？

小王子：Because where I live everything is very small...
因为我那里地方非常小……

年轻的飞行员：There will surely be enough grass for him. It is a very small sheep that I have given you.
我给你画的是一只很小的小羊，地方小也够喂养它的。

小王子：Hmm…Not so small that-- Look! He has gone to sleep...
并不象你说的那么小……瞧！它睡着了……

老年飞行员：And that is how I made the acquaintance of the little prince.
就这样，我认识了小王子。

3. 小王子看日落

老年飞行员：Oh, little prince! Bit by bit I came to understand the secrets of your sad little life... For a long time you had found your only entertainment in the quiet pleasure of looking at the sunset. I learned that new detail on the morning of the fourth day, when you said to me:
啊！小王子，就这样，我逐渐懂得了你那忧郁的生活。过去相当长的时间里你唯一的乐趣就是观赏那夕阳西下的温柔晚景。这个新的细节，是我在第四天早晨知道的。你当时对我说道：

小王子：I am very fond of sunsets. One day, I saw the sunset forty-four times! You know-- one loves the sunset, when one is so sad...
我喜欢看日落。一天，我看见过四十四次日落。你知道，当人们感到非常苦闷时，总是喜欢日落的。

年轻的飞行员：Were you so sad, then? On the day of the forty-four sunsets? 
一天四十四次，你怎么会这么苦闷？

老年飞行员：But the little prince made no reply.
小王子没有回答。
