The other day I watched the conversation between Elon Musk and Lex Fridman, and I simply cannot rid myself of the scene when Elon said, "source of strength... well, it's just not how I think of things, I don't need a source of strength".
And then here we've got this episode.
Enjoy still!
This episode will be comprised of three parts, including
1. how i got quarantined
2. what my quarantine life is like
3. my thoughts and feelings about this entire thing
Enjoy Still!
When we are awake, there is always something going on in our mind, in other words, we are always "thinking" about something.
But if we give it a closer look, not all of these "thinking" are benefiting our lives. Sometimes we are not actually thinking, but just ruminating, which is a waste of time; some other times even if we are indeed doing some rational thinking, it can be somewhat counterproductive and might produce detrimental effects in our lives if we don't pay attention.
I hope this episode can help to ring a bell.
Let's all learn to be good thinkers, instead of wasting our time on pointless thinking.
Two days ago, I got blackout drunk for the first time in my life.
Not a fun experience, not proud of it, and I swear never to get this drunk again.
Getting my brain a bit damaged is already unbearable, and not being able to recall the time together with my friends is no less of a bummer.
So I did some research about how much is too much.
Go find the answer in this episode, and enjoy my stupid story!
I don't like the idea of trying so hard,
not because I don't want to put in the work,
but because "trying hard" usually puts a lot of emotional strain in one's mind.
And a nervous mind can hardly win; neither can a cocky mind, a jealous mind, etc.
So before we go out there and conquer the world, please first of all learn to win the inner game--to put your mind at a peaceful state, calm like still water.
Entrance for the party:
Specifics of the party:
1.We’re gonna use the app Tencent Meeting, and everyone who signs up for the event will just get into our online meeting room, you can choose to keep your camera on or off as you wish, but I highly suggest that you turn it on, cuz I am envisoning a disco party, where we are gonna dance together. Don’t worry, I’m a shitty dancer too, the point is to enjoy ourselves, and nobody cares if you don’t have the perfect dance moves.
2.The party is gonna start 8:00 pm on April 29th, which is next Friday night, and it’s gonna last for around one hour, 90 minutes top, so if you are available at that time, welcome to join this party!
3.This party is gonna be pretty casual, I’m thinking that after everyone gets in the party, we chat with each other a bit, ask and answer questions here and there, and then after the warm-up session, we’re gonna start the disco part, you know, I’m gonna choose a few songs to dance to, you’re gonna choose a few songs for us to dance to, and stuff like that. And then if we get tired from dancing, we sit down and chat, eat snacks, drink, etc. pretty casual, and you guys just loosen up, we enjoy a good time together, no big pressure.
4.If you guys are interested in joining me in this online party, pls scan the QR code that I put in the show notes, and we’ll discuss further details in there. Or, if you guys have any questions that I haven’t explained fully, you are welcome to leave me comments down below.
Well, actually, this was not the first topic that came to my mind for episode 20—I kind of wanted to expand on the previous episodes and to talk about how to keep our inner peace during treacherous times.
But on a second thought, I felt like the recent two episodes have both been kind of melancholic, so...
I shifted my attention and talked very briefly about my understanding of romantic love, which is not as heavy as some other topics lingering in my mind, and those topics can wait.
With this episode, you guys can listen and comment with a light heart, and hopefully all my listeners can learn to build really great romantic relationships.
Cheers!
A wave of layoffs just hit the tech industry in China.
People are reminiscing about the past decade, when the tech industry was booming, when money and opportunities seemed to be everywhere, and when people started to build certain expectation on this industry.
And now, unfortunately, how things go does not align with these expectations, which itself has become a stressor on us, producing chronic stress that wreaks havoc on our body and mind.
How to break free?
My answer is not to expect things to go a certain way. Keep flexible on all possibilities life holds, be them "good" or "bad".
This past week is filled with negative news,
I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about.
But shit happens, it's just the way it is.
Instead of indulging in negativity, why not do something to keep ourselves sane?
And this is why I made this episode.
Hopefully we could stay safe, healthy, and sane during insane times.
Tomorrow is the Chinese Memorial Day, or Tomb-Sweeping Day,
and I thought I would like to share with you guys how over the years,
my perspective towards death has shifted.
It's not without difficulty, but I feel like I am finally in a place where I am no longer scared of it...
Just listen.
