We've got many new people around here, so I wanted to share my story of where United ArtSpace started from and the importance of not giving up.

Often, when we are finding things hard, it is because we're about to turn a corner.

Always remember, everything happens for a reason.

I believe there is a place for everyone in the art world, and it's possible at any stage and any age to bring your creative passions alive.

So, every week I bring you a dose of inspiration with thought provoking and motivational conversation so you can make art you love, and turn what you love into a living.

I want to help you get motivated and inspired for the week ahead.

This week I want to talk to you about the journey of being an artist. Everyone has a different story, but this is what makes us all amazing and individual. 

Remember, your story is powerful, meaningful and beautiful. 

This quote from Seth Godin is one of my favourites, and it hits the nail on the head. 

"Art is what we call... the thing the artist does. It's not the medium or the oil or the price or whether it hangs on a wall or you eat it. 

What matters, what makes it art, is that the person who made it overcame the resistance, ignored the voice of doubt and made something worth making.

Something risky. Something human.

Art is not in the eye of the beholder.

Art is in the soul of the artist."

Art is beautiful because it is different, so this week I want to talk to you about Alternative media and materials, the visual language and traditional art and non-traditional art.

So, this week I want to share my ways of finding inspiration with you. Sometimes we all need a little push in the right direction. I am going to share my five top tips on digging deep when needing that little bit of inspiration.

• Spend the week tracking your time. Use Toggl, notebook, anything. it's a pain but very insightful.
• Find alternative ways to de-stress - carry a sketchbook, read a book.
• When you are in consume mode 'taking courses' or learning from others, limit this to 3 people at a time. Filter the noise.
