ART, MONEY, SUCCESS
In this episode I am joined by the amazing, Maria Brophy to talk about the topics Art, Money and Success. This is also the title of her best selling book.
We delve into a great conversation, so grab a cuppa and a notebook.
Please note: this is a pre-recorded!
WHO DO YOU NEED TO BE RIGHT NOW?
When I set my goal to write a book at the beginning of last year, I quickly realised that I wasn't ready to write a book. I spent the first 6 months of the year working out what I need to do and who I need to be. I worked on my limiting beliefs and I worked on the skill gap.
I imagined the person I needed to be to get a deal and what I need to do now to start being that person.
If you are looking ahead, sometimes you have to start being the person you need to be before you get there.
WHERE FOCUS GOES ENERGY FLOWS
I want you to repeat this over and over again. What you are thinking, you will see more of.
I want you to make sure you are not inadvertently attracting what you don't want.
The mind is powerful!
If you want to make a living from your art, you need to do this one thing before anything else.
Carve out time every week to make it happen.
Create more time by compartmentalising your life. Dedicate time each week and take yourself to a new environment to get it done.
It’s not easy, this is what I’m talking about today!
We often talk about the calm before the storm but I have being experiencing this the other way round recently.
The muddled mess before we start a new painting, trying to work out who our people are, trying to set up a website, trying to figure out the next steps and what we actually want in life.
It's the part where there is confusion and no certainty that can create self doubt or the feeling of wanting to give up.
This is what I talk about today, the power of taking a step back and focussing on the next 1-3 steps. Embracing the storm and having faith the calm is on its way.
This week I’m talking about how we really never know what’s around the corner. A cliche but so true.
I share stories from myself, friends, and members who struggled then things changed for the better.
The moral is to keep hold of your dreams as tight as you can.

Over the last week, I have been talking to other artists and the same conversation has been cropping up.
People have been sharing their stories about how one person's criticism has stayed with them forever!
Criticism can be a really big issue and a lot of people have been saying how this criticism has lead to them taking a break from their art - weeks, months, years, and even decades.
Coming back from a break can leave you filling full anxiety, questioning if your art is good enough and this is what I am chatting about today.
Today I am talking about that feeling when you are not making progress, you know, the feeling that you are not good enough, or that you are making yourself look ridiculous.
I have been having all those feels recently, so want to share what I am doing to overcome them
Today I am going to talk about how you can become and more environmentally conscious artist. From the materials you use, the cleaning up process, packaging and shipping orders, knowing your carbon footprint and using local businesses.
I believe there is a place for everyone in the art world, and it's possible at any stage and any age to bring your creative passions alive.
So, every week I bring you a dose of inspiration with thought provoking and motivational conversation so you can make art you love, and turn what you love into a living.
I want to help you get motivated and inspired for the week ahead.
We have been pondering the question "what is art?" lately. Especially as we have had many artists join our members' Hub who make art in alternative media and materials.
