At an English speaking place.

We’re talking about how to answer the question, how did it taste?

Now, you probably already know how to say good or yummy.

So, okay. So, let’s say you’re at a restaurant and you’re really, really impressed by your meal.

Would you just say something like it was absolutely delicious?
你會只說「It was absolutely delicious（真的超級好吃）」嗎？
Oh, yeah. Absolutely. You can definitely use that. And it’s a great way to add emphasis, you know?

Uhhuh.

Like, absolutely. Really shows that you’re enjoying it and you’re excited about the food.

I think it works really well in like a formal setting, too,

where maybe just saying yummy would sound a little too casual, you know, to make sense, you know? Yeah.

So, delicious is a great word. I think it’s kind of a workhorse. You can use it almost anywhere.

Okay. Awesome. So, what about something like I really enjoyed it. Thank you.

That seems polite and genuine.

Yeah, it is very polite. And you actually hit on a really important word there, which is enjoy.

Now, what if I want to mention a specific thing that I liked about the dish?

Right. Well, then you could say something like, “I really like the sauce.”

Okay.

And that’s a great way to give like more details.

Than just saying like, “Oh, it’s good.” You know, shows you’re really paying attention to the flavors and you’re picking out what you like the best.

Yeah. I like that. And you can even use that same structure to talk about different parts of the meal, you know.

Um, so what other advice would you have for navigating these how did it taste situations?

Well, I think one thing to remember is that even native English speakers, we use a variety of phrases, right? So there’s not just one right answer.
其實連母語人士在回答這類問題時也會使用不同的表達方式，並沒有唯一正確的答案。
And the most important thing is just to be yourself.
最重要的是保持真誠，做自己就好。
Be confident.
要有自信。
Speak confidently. Exactly.

Don’t be afraid to try out these phrases and see what feels most natural for you. And also, if you need a minute to think,

you can always just buy yourself some time and say something like, “It’s really good. I’m still enjoying it.”
