When we are so focused on a goal, we can forget to stop and take in the big picture. Most driven people tend to zoom in or hyper-focus on their goals and on doing whatever is necessary to achieve them. Paying so much attention to those things means everything else going on around them just fades to black.
Being hyper-focused on our goals is a good thing but we don’t want to forget to zoom out as well. Without stepping back or zooming out and looking at the big picture, we may be missing out on what is truly important.
The ability to zoom in and zoom out is a mindfulness practice. This helps with distractibility, anxiety, and focus. In this episode, we talk about what it means to zoom in and zoom out and share an exercise on how to develop the awareness and skill.
