Keto Chow founder Chris Bair is our guest today in Episode 1381 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”
Chris Bair is a tech guy that stumbled onto the ketogenic way of eating in a rather unconventional way. He was making a "Do It Yourself" nutritionally complete meal replacement to make eating easier and to lose weight but because it was so high in carbs, he ended up gaining all the weight back. In October 2014 he tried a different recipe that was supposed to be keto but it didn't have enough electrolytes and got "keto flu" really bad. After trying some other recipes, he ended up creating a new one that wasn't gritty, tasted amazing, and had the right nutrient profile for keto. That recipe was released (and is still available for free) as Keto Chow in January 2015. Since then Chris and his wife, Miriam, have turned the recipe into a business with the goal of helping people make keto easier.
Listen in today as Jimmy chats with Chris about his original experiments with eating nothing but Keto Chow for 4 weeks with absolutely nothing else but water and occasional salt, experimenting with different types of fat, heavy cream and nut oils, experimenting with replacing fat with simple sugars and the weight gain that came with it, self experimentation, and much more.
