“I had been writing about the fact that fructose was the problem, but inside the animals we saw confusing evidence.”
- Dr. Richard Johnson
In this episode, Jimmy is pleased to welcome back to the podcast a Professor of Medicine and obesity researcher from the University of Colorado named Dr. Richard Johnson (@drrichardjjohnson) who has been conducting studies looking at fructose as the primary culprit in obesity for the past two decades. His research has evolved over the years examining the various mechanisms within the body that determine adipose fat accumulation and what can be done to prevent and reverse that switch. Dr. Johnson brings a heavily does of science with practical takeaways that you’re sure to learn a lot form in today’s interview!

Join Jimmy today as he welcomes Dr. Rebecca Warren to talk about healing the thyroid.
“It wasn’t about calories in/calories out, they were doing the wrong tests, and weren’t even reading the tests they were doing correctly.”
- Dr. Rebecca Warren
In this episode, Jimmy speaks with women’s health and thyroid hormone expert Dr. Rebecca Warren (@dr.rebeccawarren) for a truly incredible conversation about the state of modern-day healthcare and the disappointing way allopathic medicine treats patients with chronic and metabolic diseases. Dr. Warren was thrust into dealing with her own health crisis as a teenager when she developed thyroid cancer at the age of 16 and was instructed to have a thyroidectomy (a complete removal of the thyroid gland). This set her on the path of knowledge thirsty for finding out answers about what happened to her so she can help others in a similar situation. Watch this engaging chat that runs the gamut on the layered approach to thyroid healing, what labs to have run if you suspect something is wrong, the pros and cons of the medications that are used to control thyroid, and what it takes over the long-term to live a healthy lifestyle.

Join Jimmy today as he welcomes Frank Llosa as they talk about ethanol-free hard ketones.
“People are looking for healthier alternatives and these have zero carbs.”
- Frank Llosa
In this episode, Jimmy does something he’s never done before in the more than decade and a half history of hosting his podcast–he got drunk on camera while doing an interview! Yep, you can blame the creator of a product called R 1,3 known as Hard Ketones named Frank Llosa for this as Jimmy took up his challenge to try the world’s first ketogenic and ethanol-free alcoholic beverage–and it’s redefining what alcohol can be. As you will see and hear in this interview where Jimmy tries the R 1,3 for the very first time, there was a decided buzz that happened in the midst of the recording. Watch this episode to learn more about ketone esters, the accidental way Frank found out about the inebriating effects of R 1,3, and why this is a healthier alternative to drinking ethanol while creating fat-burning in the body. This is one of the more entertaining episodes in the history of The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show podcast!

Join Jimmy today as he welcomes Alexandra Bucko to talk about how toxins might be affecting you in ways you didn’t consider.
“There are known causes of disease that mainstream doctors ignore.”
- Alexandra Bucko
In this episode, Jimmy has a chat with a longtime online friend and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Alexandra Bucko (@throughhealthandback) for a delightful conversation about a variety of interesting topics surrounding the subject of health. Alexandra is currently studying nutrition abroad in Croatia and is a keen observer of what’s happening in the world of chronic disease, lifestyle, and diet. Jimmy and Alexandra shoot the breeze about the role toxins play in metabolic disease that supersede the carbs, fats, and protein, how you can gain weight on keto by becoming vitamin and mineral deficient, why chronic disease develops from deficiencies in key nutrients, and why not properly digesting your food can make feel unwell. Enjoy this casual conversation from two Instafriends meeting on camera for the first time.

Join Jimmy today for a brand new Jimmy Makes Science Simple as he tackles the often misunderstand concept of why LDL cholesterol goes up for some people when they start eating low-carb.
“Is high LDL-C cholesterol harmful in lean mass hyper-responders?”
- Jimmy Moore
In this episode, Jimmy features a study that was published in the November 2021 issue of the journal Current Developments in Nutrition entitled “Elevated LDL-Cholesterol with a Carbohydrate-restricted Diet: Evidence for a ‘Lean Mass Hyper-responder’ Phenotype’.” One of the contributing researchers on this paper is Dr. David Ludwig along with Dr. Nicholas Norwitz, Adrian Soto-Mota, Dr. Tro Kalayjian, and science-minded layperson Dave Feldman who was the one who came up with the lean mass hyper-responders hypothesis with low-carb diets that noticed the pattern of excessively high LDL-C levels despite high HDL-C, low triglycerides, and low BMI. It’s a truly fascinating paper for those of you who have experienced significant elevations in your LDL cholesterol despite spectacular numbers across the board in the rest of your lipid panel. Get the full details on this study in today’s episode!

Join Jimmy today as he welcomes Kat Owens to talk about combating the lie that the Bible pushes plant-based eating.
“I recommend to people to look into buying meat in bulk. I buy half a cow at a time.”
- Kat Owens
In this episode, Jimmy chats with his friend and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner named Kat Owens (@low.carb.with.kat). As a low-carb animal foods fan and FNTP, it would be easy to chat with Kat about the finer points of nutrient density, digestion, and the endocrine system. But she wanted to talk about an interesting topic, especially for people of faith–does the Bible recommend consuming a plant-based diet as the ideal way to eat? This has been a common belief that Biblical eating is closer to vegetarian and vegan than it is keto and carnivore. Is this true? Tune in to hear Kat’s take on this controversial subject!

Join Jimmy today for a brand new Jimmy Makes Science Simple as he tackles the Ludwig Carnivore Diet Study.
“The problem is that they started using insulin to treat not only type-1 diabetes, but also type-2 diabetes.”
- Jimmy Moore
In this episode, Jimmy features a study that was published in the November 2021 issue of the journal Current Developments in Nutrition entitled “Behavioral Characteristics and Self-Reported Health Status among 2029 Adults Consuming a ‘Carnivore Diet’.” One of the contributing researchers on this paper is Dr. David Ludwig who has been pumping out quite a few positive studies on ketogenic and carnivore diets over the past few years. They wanted to know what impact an animal foods-based diet is having on people who choose to eat that way in terms of their health and satisfaction among 2029 study participants. Don’t miss Jimmy’s full breakdown of this study and why it’s good news for fans of keto and carnivore diets!

On today’s episode of the LLVLC Show, Jimmy welcomes Kira Kellerman to talk about pushing back against failed medical advice.
“I’m really glad I had the courage to say F. O. to all the doctors who didn’t help me get better!”
- Kira Kellerman
In this episode, Jimmy talks to a good friend of his named Kira Kellerman (@kirochka13s) who went through the wringer and back with the medical system when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2008. After getting progressively worse and worse and developing other conditions like eczema and obesity, Kira was told by her doctors that she would have to live like this taking increasing amounts of medications for the rest of her life. But that wasn’t the life she wanted and she grabbed back control of her own health in 2018 trying the keto diet and then shifting over into a carnivore diet where she is now thriving in her health. Don’t miss this inspiring message of hope from a brave and rebellious woman willing to push back against failed medical advice.
“Can you remember everything you ate over the last year, two years, FOUR YEARS? The average person has no idea.”
- Jimmy Moore
In this episode, Jimmy kicks off the new year by doing one of his favorite things–breaking down a new study in nutritional health. This one was presented at the American Heart Association’s 2021 Scientific Sessions in November and it’s a doozy with a radical claim. According to this so-called study, the researcher say that consuming non-dairy animal fat will increase your risk of stroke by 16% and that choosing vegetable fat sources (aka seed oils like canola, soybean, and corn oil) will lower your risk of stroke by 12%. Tune in to hear Jimmy expose the major flaws in this research and why it’s actually just a big yawner. Got a new study you want Jimmy to feature on a future podcast? On today’s episode of the LLVLC Show, Jimmy welcome Alex Yekorov to talk about leveraging pain and pleasure in your health journey.
“If you don’t have a vision for where you are going, then you’re never gonna be happy!”
- Alex Yekorov
In this episode, Jimmy has the pleasure of speaking with health and weight loss coach Alex Yehorov (Facebook) who shares an intriguing mindset concept on getting healthier–leveraging the brain’s natural pain and pleasure responses to reach your goals. Check out Jimmy and Alex having a deep and engaging conversation about shifting your detrimental mindset and belief systems that are holding you back over to a more healthy process for making achievable yet challenging goals to get where you want to go in your health. What a great way to start the new year!
