Tom Greer-Smith has a wealth of knowledge, and a wild story to share!
He grew up on the Gold Coast with a love for sport, specifically tennis. And after completing high school Tom set off to the USA to attend college and chase his tennis career. He started in Texas and ended in Hawaii which is where he stayed after college assistant coaching the College tennis team as well as working at high end hotels as a tennis coach.
Once returning from Hawaii Tom decided he wanted to study psychology and help people with their lives. He went straight into the deep end working in rural Qld communities as well as with indigenous communities.
From here he returned to the Gold Coast and landed a job working with Surfing Australia as a high-performance psychologist where he now works alongside Australia's most promising young athletes helping them build a solid mental foundation to compete at the highest level.
We also chatted about my 100km race coming up, and the mental challenges I will face and how to prepare for them.
