The beauty industry is big and growing quickly—a $511 billion industry in 2021, and expected to surpass $700 billion by 2025. Starting a hair and skincare line is a great way to get in on this action. In this episode, we’re talking to Charmaine Nicole, founder and owner of Black Hair and Skincare and Sydney Nicole Hair, to find out how to start a skincare business or hair product line.
Charmaine Nicole’s personal experience with hair loss was the impetus for starting her business. After being diagnosed with alopecia as a teen, she was prescribed shampoos and sprays that addressed the symptoms but didn’t fix the problem. This inspired her to create a space for people of color to find advice and solutions for their skin and hair issues, and ultimately starting a skincare business and hair product line in 2016.
Today, Charmaine is giving us the inside scoop on how to start a hair product line or skincare business. We’ll talk through every step, from designing the products and choosing a niche to connecting with customers and growing sales.
