This week I decided to have a conversation with one of my daughters. Meghan has recently moved back in with us and we have been having some amazing conversations about different topics and how parents tend to focus on the wrong thing when they are offering advice or their opinions. Instead of building a closer relationship with their children they alienate them or disconnect from them. As parents we have a hard time letting our children ask questions and figure out what they believe in. We make it mean something about us and our parenting. Instead try listening to your adult children and get curious about what they are saying and thinking. Don't try to prove your point so you can be right. What if both of you are right for different reasons.
