When we say someone is mature, we’re generally talking about a person’s overall persona. How they present themselves, how they speak, and how they act in social situations. Think of how a young child matures as they get older. They learn life lessons from their parents in order to become responsible adults.

But one thing that we don’t really teach children is about emotional maturity and how to relate to people on an emotional level instead of from a logical perspective. My favorite book on this topic is called The Four Agreements. I highly recommend that you read this WITH your partner – or the person you want to pursue a relationship with – so you can create a strong foundation for your relationship. The Four Agreements takes maturity and responsibility to a whole new level.
