Nutritional wellness expert and low-carb, high-fat cookbook author Maria Emmerich is our interview guest today in Episode 734 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”
There's been an increased interest in low-carb, high-fat ketogenic diets in recent years as the science continues to show great health benefits from being in a state of nutritional ketosis. This has sparked a growing interest from so many who are trying this way of eating to have recipes that are both delicious and easy that fit within this template. That's something that Maria Emmerich from the "Maria Mind Body Health" blog (listen to Jimmy's interviews with her in Episode 376 and "Ask The Low-Carb Experts" Episode 16) specializes in doing and she does it very well. In fact, she has a brand new book in 2013 that is perfect for low-carb, high-fat followers called The Art of Healthy Eating: Grain Free Low Carb Reinvented: Slow Cooker. Listen in as Jimmy and Maria talk about how far too many people look at low-carb as simply a means for weight loss, all the health improvements that come from eating a low-carb, moderate protein, high-fat diet, why attempting to do a low-carb diet on your own leads to common problems (i.e. too much protein, not enough salt, magnesium and protein), what makes people quit low-carb prematurely, and more! Maria is a great friend of the show and we are happy to have her back again today for another interview.
